Coins of WWI Thursday, Nov. 6 7:00-8:30 p.m. Ron Darbyshire, the “Coin Guy”, returns to the Library with a very special presentation. Not only did money and our ideas of inflation change in the years following WWI, coins were also used to inspire troops and keep memories of loved ones alive. Through artifacts and coins from around the world, Ron will relate stories of this important time in our history. Classic Movie Matinee: All Quiet on the Western Front Sunday, Nov. 9 1:30-3:30 p.m. Winner of Best Picture in 1930, All Quiet on the Western Front is the story of a young soldier facing the horrors of WWI. Based on the German-language novel by Erich Maria Remarque, this film is rated PG-13 for Intense War Violence. Friends of the Library Fundraisers The Friends of the St. Albert Public Library are the Library’s largest, continuous charitable supporter. Over the years they have raised thousands of dollars for library books, materials and programs like our children’s Summer Reading Game. Recently much of their fundraising helps the Library run its STARFest (St. Albert Readers Festival) which was a huge success this year, nearly selling out all of the author events.
