12th Annual Conference 2014 Texas School Nurses Organization November 14-16, 2014 ∙ Westin Galleria Hotel ∙ Houston, TX Nursing contact hours have been applied for through the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation Highlights and Information Welcome to Houston for TSNO’s 12th Annual Conference! Texas School Nurses care for students with varied health conditions every school day. This year TSNO’s conference theme is “School Nurses Cultivating a Community of School Health Advocates”. We will utilize a variety of learning formats including the Texas Woman’s University College of Nursing’s high tech simulation lab, challenging and professional breakout sessions, inspiring poster presentations, an exciting book study, and exemplary general sessions, to assist school nurses in cultivating stronger communities of health advocacy that support student health and academic success. TSNO conference sessions will prepare you to deliver quality School Nursing care to your students, helping them to be healthy, safe and ready to learn. Your new knowledge will make you a more effective School Nurse, and allow you to discover new areas of collaboration. Sign up early, as most sessions are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. TSNO is a provider of high quality, school nurse specific, continuing education opportunities. Engage. Explore. Enjoy! Conference Objective: The purpose of the Texas School Nurses Organization Annual State Conference is to provide evidence-based and/or best practice educational offerings that address identified gaps in knowledge and skills, promote excellence in clinical practice and improve quality of health care that Registered Nurses deliver in schools, which is a solo or independent practice setting. The identified gaps in knowledge and skills include current guidelines and standards for the management of chronic and acute health-related conditions seen in the school aged population and the enrichment of the School Nurse’s professional practice. The Registered Nurses will be prepared to implement their enhanced knowledge to meet the chronic and acute health needs of students. Continuing Education Credits Nursing contact hours have been applied for through the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Evaluations and CNE Certificates of Completion Attendees will complete conference session evaluations and an overall conference evaluation online.
