Marathon Open Canvas Painting is conducting in a view to display everyone’s
views and talents through their vivid creations.
For the successful conduct of the program, a Reception Committee has been

Besides the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Merit
Prizes, Ten percent of the participants will
be awarded with consolation prizes. The
winners are liable to prove their age group

Canvas Painting.

IEI Kuwait Chapter Ladies Wing holds meeting
The members of the ladies wing of
Institution of Engineers of India, Kuwait
gathered at Ms Sujatha Elangovan’s
residence in Salmiya recently to attend
workshops conducted by Engr Anu
Kurien and Ms Thennal Jimmy. Ladies
wing member Ms Bhagyashri Koranne
welcomed the gathering and invited
Engr Anu Kurien to start her presentation. She came out with the most inno-
vative techniques of making garden out
of Kitchen waste. She explained in
detail how the home gardens be made
with the help of the parts of the vegetables normally we throw away daily. The
techniques were very simple and easily
adoptable at each and every home.
This was followed by the much awaited session on “Cup Cake Decoration”
by Ms Thennal Jimmy. Ms Thennal
gave a live demonstration of cup cake
decoration methods and each and
every member of ladies wing had
hands-on experience and tried out the
art work with great enthusiasm.
Ms Sujatha Elangovan proposed
vote of thanks and the workshops
ended with serving of snacks, juice
tea and of course, the decorated
cakes.

Goa Day 2014: The Goan Welfare
Society-Kuwait, is pleased to announce
plans for the Goa Day ‘14 celebrations, to
be organized in association with other
Goan Clubs/Associations, on Nov 21,
2014 at the SIMS premises, Salmiya. A
day-long event filled with total entertainment, showcasing the Goan culture,
Folklore, Konkani musical extravaganza
performed by renowned artistes/celebrities, Fanfare, Goan culinary art display,
National Service Society-Kuwait conducted its 13th
anniversary and Onam celebrations recently at the
Carmel Indian School-Khaitan Kuwait. The festivities took off with traditional Pookkalam Competition
and Thiruvathira Competition followed by arrival of
the Mahabali to the stage. The function was inaugurated by Honorable Chief of Diplomatic Mission
(Indian Embassy) Shubashish Godar by lighting
the traditional lamp. Sreejith Pillai, joint secretary
welcomed the audience. Ullas Kumar, president
NSS-Kuwait spoke about the tradition, history and
relevance of NSS-Kuwait among the Indian community in his presidential address. Dr Namboothiri,
Hamsa Payyannor spoke on the occasion. Dr Jafer
Ismail Ali the general secretary of IDF was honored
during the occasion for the excellent support for
two consecutive NSS-IDF medical camps.
Rajendran Pillai was given a memento for his continued support for the association activities. Hari
Nair, treasurer NSS delivered the vote of thanks.
The highlight of the cultural programme was the
classical dance performance by the famous dancer
from India Kalaskethram Rajamalli B. The traditional Ona Sadya was served during the programme.
2014 St Gregorios Indian Orthodox Maha
Edavaka will be held on Nov 21, 2014 at
Indian Central School, Abbasiya from
8:00 am to 7:00 pm. It will be a full day
program with variety of cultural programs, food stalls, game stalls, etc.
Preperations are underway. A large
committee is working for the success of
the event. Thousands of faithful are
expected to attend the event according to
the organisers of the event.

CRYchess 2014: Friends of CRY Club
(FOCC), announces plans for 2014 Chess
Tournament for children of all ages upto
high-school. “CRYchess 2014” will be
held at the Salmiya Indian Model School
(SIMS), Salmiya, Kuwait,on Friday, 28th
November 2014, from 0930 - 1630 hrs.
The players will be allocated groups by
their age, to play in the Swiss pairing format. For more details, registration forms,

www.focckwt.org or contact FOCC members. Sponsors are also welcome to
encourage the participating young chess
players. The last date for registration is
Saturday, the 22nd November 2014.
Children of all ages and various nationalities competed in the annual event which had
some of those participating over and over
every year. “With CRY everyone wins” is
the slogan FOCC carries. The players are
paired in the Swiss Pairing System, which is
used in many international chess tournaments. All the children play all the 5 rounds.
After each round, the computer software
pairs players based on the automatically calculated player rankings. After the fifth round
the final ranking is determined by the software according to the number of games won
