Pitched as Fyodor Dostoyevsky meets Batman, THE IRONSKULL is a sweeping
adventure set during the fiercest years of the First World War, a literary suspense
novel that moves effortlessly from the heights of Swedish society to Stockholm’s underbelly of spies and hired assassins.
The year is 1917. The world beyond Sweden’s borders is aflame. Scores of secret agents
and spies from every corner of the world congregate in the capital. When the murder of an
officer with ties to Sweden’s ruling elite is written off as an accident by the police, the mysterious Herr Agnefit puts together a group of operatives with rare and special talents to
find out what really happened.
Agnefit’s team includes Captain Henrich Murman, a former agent of the Tsarist secret services, the demure Lydia Widén who’s also the vigilante The Green Hunter, and battered
middle-aged swindler Jenny Storm, amongst others. Herr Agnefit won’t tell anyone why
he wants the murder solved, and before long his confederates begin to suspect something’s
seriously wrong. Something bigger — much bigger — is at play.
THE IRONSKULL, the first book of two, is an epic and fateful saga which brings together
the most unlikely literary strands: the literary epos meets the superhero tale; the graphic
novel meets psychological realism. Nils Håkanson is influenced as much by Alan Moore
and Neil Gaiman as he is by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy and August Strindberg.
Nils Håkanson, b. 1975, is a translator of Russian literature and holds a Ph D in Slavic languages. THE IRONSKULL is his first novel.

Now, nineteen years later, though she’s managed to become self-reliant,
the other items on her list remain elusively uncompleted. The state of
things was endurable – enjoyable even – while her daughter lived at
home, but when Emma leaves home to start university, Anette soon realises she has an abundance of what she’s been missing for the last couple
of decades: time.
What better way to spend her time than to start taking motorcycle lessons; jump straight into an impossible project; get to know her own
slightly senile mother; and throw herself head of heels into romance?
As it turns out, looking for ways to spend one’s free time and searching
for adventure can lead to the most unexpected complications…
Katarina Bivald grew up working part-time in a bookshop. Today she
lives in Älta outside Stockholm, with her sister and as many bookshelves
as she can squeeze in. She has still not decided whether she prefers books
or people. LIFE, MOTORCYCLES AND OTHER IMPOSSIBLE PROJECTS is her second novel, following on the internationally bestselling
THE READERS IN BROKEN WHEEL RECOMMEND which is being
published in 23 countries and has sold more than 50 000 copies in both
Sweden and France.

Clinch
Book 1 in the Harry Kvist Series
Harry Kvist, a bisexual former boxer, earns a living as a bailiff. He is
scarred by poverty and alcoholism, but is conscientious in his work: finding runaway farm girls and chasing bad debts. He rents a flat above a
funeral home in the Sibirien district of Stockholm and takes great pride
in his appearance. His past contains a deep scar and an estranged daughter. One of his secrets is a strong attraction to men.
In CLINCH, Kvist is wrongly accused of murder and is forced deeper
into Stockholm’s underworld in the hunt for the only person who can
save him. As he attempts to clear his name from false allegations, he
moves through shanty-towns, speakeasies, brothels and contraband
stores, but also catches a glimpse of upper-class life in their decadent
parlours. Torn between his broken past and his desire to survive, between his pride and his misery, he risks his life in a violent quest for justice and reveals corruption at the heart of the city.
In each of the novels, Harry Kvist gets caught in the crossfire between
powerful groupings and has to fight to survive. Over the course of the
trilogy, his own tragic fate is also revealed.
The trilogy begins during the cold, dark autumn of the Kreuger Crash in
1932, while the finale takes place four years later.

Maybe they will write about you…

Across the Ice
A story about guilt. And love.
And about the beautiful, powerful archipelago…
Winter, 1914. Werner Engström and his girlfriend Kyra Ingman and their
friends set out across the ice toward home on Hustrun Island after a
dance on the neighbouring island.Their struggle to make it home in the
horrible snow storm will come to shape life on Hustrun for the next hundred years.
At Hustrun 2013, we meet Ellinor Ingman, a woman in her fifties, who
singlehandedly runs Algot’s Sea Taxi and takes care of her elderly father
Algot. Herrman Engström is on his way from Labrador, Canada to sell
his childhood home on Hustrun, now that his father has passed away.
When Ellinor discovers that he is the passenger she has come to pick up
with the sea taxi, she steers her boat straight into the jetty in shock. And
so the story about getting to know a long lost love begins…
ACROSS THE ICE is a portrayal of the Stockholm archipelago then and
now; of love and hate away from the mainland. A story which fascinates
and takes a serious hold of the heart.
”I feel like writing a letter to Persson: In [your earlier work]
Livstecken you write about finding a sort of ladder to heaven – I
think you have found it here!”

Red Snow | High Pressure
RED SNOW
In a laboratory in Uppsala, Sweden, a group of scientists has created a type of
Spanish flu virus many times more aggressive than the original from 1918. After a break-in in the laboratory, microbiologist Lotta Nordenflycht realises that
two vials of the virus have been taken.
Police Inspector Ulf Beow is investigating the murder of his best friend and
colleague. Was the murder racially motivated or was he on to something bigger? It doesn’t take long for Beow to realise that his case is connected to the
stolen virus. Lotta Nordenflycht is assigned to assist in the investigation, and
it’s soon clear to Beow that she is not only one of the top scientists in her field;
she is a woman of unexpected resources, with an agenda of her own.
“Red Snow could be turned into a movie! All the ingredients are there;
attraction, action and intense personal relationships…This is really
good entertainment!”

the powerful forces of the oil industry in a breath taking investigation that

Staffan Thorsell
The Warsaw
Swedes
On June 9, 1942, a speech was broadcast on the BBC that would change
human history.
Władysław Sikorski, Poland's prime minister exiled in London, revealed
that 700,000 Jews had been systematically murdered in brutal Nazi concentration camps, quarantined and executed en-masse in ghettos, and
walked to their deaths in gas chambers. This was the first time the world
and the Allied forces had heard of the crimes of the Holocaust, a secret
the Nazi leaders had been able to keep until now.
The shocking revelation was based on information – a dossier of highly
sensitive photographs and documents – which had come out of Poland,
to London, via Stockholm thanks to a group of Swedish businessmen
working in Warsaw at the time. The eight men repeatedly risked their
lives to smuggle out the information telling the world about the Nazi
persecution of Polish Jews. Dubbed The Warsaw Swedes, they were all to
be sentenced to death by the Nazis as a result of their actions. Their remarkable story has never before been told in full.

The Ten Worst Ideas
in Economics
–From Keynes To Piketty
Bad ideas are dangerous.
How is it then that certain economic models and arguments that, although repeatedly proved false, keep coming back? If we want to build a
better financial system, good intentions are simply not enough; it is imperative that we identify the bad ideas, however popular they may momentarily be. THE TEN WORST IDEAS IN ECONOMICS: FROM
KEYNES TO PIKETTY submits such frequently repeated ideas to a test of
common economic sense. The results are troubling: an alarming amount
of nonsense now lies entrenched at the commanding heights of economic
debate.
Written for the amateur economist and the interested general reader,
THE TEN WORST IDEAS IN ECONOMICS provides a tour de force of
modern finance and economics, applied to some of the hottest topics of
today’s debate. It provides a credible agenda of reform of financial institutions and government finance and therefore, a road forward.
The manuscript was originally written in English by the author.
