group. Proposal is for a RX5 a mix residential
use. Located in Alexander Place (on the north
side of US 70, across from Brier Creek) behind
Walmart.

Laurel Hills Garden Club:
History and Fall Gardening Tips
The Laurel Hills Garden Club is a grass roots
community organization, and has been in
existence since 1960. Its focus is the
beautification of the community, education,
conservation of the natural resources, and
involvement of youth. Some of its projects are a
neighborhood directory, the neighborhood
entrance, awarding of the yard of the month, and
monthly educational programs. Brenda
Cleveland also presented on a number of fall
gardening tips.
Raleigh Police Department Crime Report
Officer Cochran provided a brief report. Vehicle
theft is up for the month of September and
beginning of October. He reminded residents of
how to prevent items from being stolen by
removing them from cars or not making it visible
to robbers.
Park, Recreation and Cultural Resources
Alicia Lacombe of Lake Lynn passed out fliers
about upcoming events.
Housing and Neighborhoods Department
No report presented. Robert Liles and Pam Ring
remained at the meeting to answer questions
from residents if needed.
Zoning case Z-24-14
Annexation & Rezoning Vote
Craig Dean returned for the vote of 3109 Globe
Road project. He also gave a brief presentation
for those that were not in attendance for last
meeting. The vote was 10 yes 3 no, this will be
presented to City Council on November 5, 2014.
Zoning Case Z-22-14
(Stonehenge/Creedmoor Road) Attorney Isabel
Mattox, along with developers John Sibert and
Nick Fugh of 2SL Design Build tried to present
some ideas of what type of housing development
they’d like to bring to the community. They were
met with much resistance from current residents.
Issues of concern were additional traffic, storm
water drainage, and the architectural design of
the new housing development. There will be an
upcoming vote at our next meeting.
Zoning Case Z-30-14
Presentation by Mike Birch of Morningstar Law
Clean Energy for Raleigh
Kathryn Reilly from the NC Sierra Club
introduced the Clean Energy for Raleigh (CE4R)
campaign and presented some highlights of the
Clean Energy project. The enrollment period for
interested homeowners or businesses is ending
on 11-14-2014. For more information on this

Raleigh Parks Bond Referendum
Shawsheen Baker handed out information on the
Raleigh Parks Bond referendum that appears on
the Nov. 4 ballot. For more information, go

The City provides this funding to encourage you to get involved in
making your neighborhood better. Funds are available at
two levels:

REGISTRY
Level One provides up to $250.
Level Two provides up to $1,000 and applicants are required to
provide a match of at least 50 percent of a project’s cost. To apply
for Neighborhood Improvement Funds or learn more about the
