NOVEMBER 2014 Editor: Leslie Davis [email protected] 532-6604 Web Site: http://www.tcnc.org PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Monty Youngborg and his committee have put together a great slate of officers and committee chairs to serve in 2015. They were announced at the October meeting, and will be voted on at the November dinner meeting. If you would like to have a say in who is directing our club, be sure to attend the November meeting. Nominations can also be taken from the floor before the votes are cast. Speaking of nominations, there are two very important slots still open. They are Activities Chair (a Board position) and Newsletter Editor (a non-Board position beginning in 2015). Neither of these positions are easy. I wouldn’t kid you on that, but you will get plenty of help from former occupants of these positions and from other members. And these positions are crucial to help make our ongoing fun and activities happen. I especially encourage newer members to get involved; it is a great way to get to know other members better. Activities Chair has been shared by 2 people in the past, so think about teaming up with another member and taking this on. We all have a great time, but the club doesn’t run by itself, and it helps when a few agree to take on a little extra responsibility to be certain that events happen and are planned and coordinated properly. The slate of officers for 2015 is: President – Bill Burnes 1st VP (Programs) – Monty Youngborg 2nd VP (Membership) – Dana Youngborg Secretary – Diane Maxwell Treasurer – John Hallam Activities – (OPEN) Director at Large – Lesley Thompson The committee chairs for 2015 are: Ladies Lunch – Ina Belochi Dinner Meeting – Marge Czadzeck and Judy Hamilton Web Director - Judy LaForce Raffle – Leah Decker Sunshine – Paula Kolander Roster and Badges – Leslie Davis Wine Tasting – Marcia VanSwoll Men’s Breakfast – Bert Maxwell Games Galore – Janeen Herig Needlework – Vivian Griswold Dining Group – Kathy O’Gorman Newsletter Editor – (OPEN) Leslie Davis’ 3-year term as Newsletter Editor is up. Until we find a replacement for her, Leslie will continue publishing the newsletter, but it’s time to pass on the job to someone new. Please contact me if you’re interested. To those who are leaving those duties at the end of the year, you have our gratitude for your contribution of time and effort to make this a better club for all of us. The holiday season is already here (at least if you count Halloween). NOVEMBER 2014 TCNC Newsletter SUNSHINE From Barbara Bristow: “Good news is that our granddaughter Annastasia after having abdominal surgery at Oakland Childrens Hospital is improving daily. Her surgeon is very pleased with her progress and we don't have to go back for 3 months. The not so good news is that I have been having vision problems and am going to Stockton tomorrow (October 24) to be seen by a retina surgeon and a cataract surgeon to see if they can improve my vision, which has deteriorated since last year’s check up. I would appreciate your good thoughts. It really has been one of those years…” Page 4 of 6 Report and photographs from Steve Belochi regarding last month’s wine tasting event at the Furiosi's "The wine tasting was at the Furiosi's this past Friday (October 17th). The Pinot Noir was served elegantly by Rex. Grace & Paul were gracefully hospitable! The wine tasting always offers a chance to know the hosts a bit more, like peeking into their background and sharing a few stories of their past. This time, we learned that Grace and Paul Furiosi Grace designed and supervised the building of their spacious and modern home, and Paul showed us the many trophies of his cycling competitions. Lesley Thompson, Susan Page and Ruthell Matteson shared a few chats and laughs until late in the evening."
