INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON
NPP
TECHNOLOGY &
HUMAN
RESOURCES
DEVELOPMENT
November 27-28, 2014
NOVOTEL Ambassador, Busan, Republic of Korea
Organized and Hosted by KINGS
In association with the IAEA technical meeting on
“the Engineering Impacts of the Fukushima Daiichi Accident”
In association with D2SRC on
“Decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plants”
1. BACKGROUND
Nuclear power technology and human resources development for nuclear power programs
has been identified as one of the main issues, as there is a need to construct and operate more
NPPs demanded around world, and to replace the nuclear power industry’s ageing workforce.
Consequently, the role of NPP engineering and educational institutions is very important to
meet industry needs.
2. OBJECTIVE
The objective of the symposium is to address issues regarding NPP technology and human
resource development, and to share technologies about design, construction, and maintenance
of NPPs through followings:
Better understating of common problems and issues regarding NPP technology and human
resources development
Identification of practical issues on construction and maintenance of nuclear power plants
Major roles of engineering and educational institutions to introduce and expand safe and
sustainable nuclear power around the world
3. THEMATIC SCOPE
The symposium will review the current state of technology and human resource development
in the nuclear area, including nuclear power education and training around the world. The
symposium will also address practical issues on design, construction, maintenance, and
advanced technologies on nuclear power plants. It is anticipated that the symposium will
identify and further explore policies and strategies needed regarding technical issues and
human resource development to support both the introduction and the expansion of nuclear
power programs.
4. MAIN PROGRAMS
