Jennifer Devoe, MD, DPhil, elected to IOM

Jennifer DeVoe, M.D., D.Phil., an associate professor of
family medicine in the OHSU School of Medicine, has been
elected to the Institute of Medicine. DeVoe, a family
physician and health services researcher, and also chief
research officer at OCHIN, was elected in recognition of her
outstanding professional achievement and commitment to
services in health and medicine.

Ben Schneider, MD, wins 2014 AAMC Advising Award
Benjamin Schneider, M.D., Family Medicine assistant
professor and clinician at Family Medicine at South
Waterfront, has been named the 2014 Careers in Medicine
Excellence in Medical Student Career Advising Individual
Award recipient by the Association of American Medical
Colleges (AAMC).
The national award recognizes the accomplishments and
commitment of an advisor dedicated to helping students
succeed in fulfilling their career and educational goals through effective
career advising. Dr. Schneider was nominated by Molly Osborne, M.D.,
Ph.D., Associate Dean for Student Affairs; John Saultz, M.D., Chair of the
Department of Family Medicine; and Carolyn Litchman, M.D., a School of
Medicine alumnus. The award will be presented at the AAMC 2014 Annual
Meeting on Nov. 7 in Chicago.
"It is a great honor to be recognized nationally for the work we are doing here
at OHSU,” Dr. Schneider said. "As the match has grown more competitive,
advising – early and often – has become even more important.” Read more
Columbia Hills Family Medicine Earns Plantree Award
Columbia Hills Family Medicine staff and
providers, The Dalles, were recently
presented with a Planetree Story of
Excellence award in connection with the
care of a teenaged patient who was in a
serious car accident that killed her father
and seriously injured her mother.
A Planetree Story of Excellence represents the highest level of achievement
in patient-/person-centered care based on evidence and standards submitted
by staff, providers or community members recognizing those who have gone
above or beyond their job duties. Read more

The annual OHSU Employee Giving
Campaign has begun and will
continue through Nov. 28. Once
again, Family Medicine is asking
employees to consider a
contribution to the Family Medicine
Discretionary Account. This account
is a pool of funds used to advance
two important causes: the
professional development of our staff and the support of our most needy
patients.
Employees can contribute payroll deduction, credit card and cash/check. See
