EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND ANTI-HARASSMENT
It is the policy of MU’s Office of Experiential Learning and Career Management (ELCM) to promote and maintain an
environment free of all forms of discrimination, intimidation, and exploitation including sexual harassment.
ELCM affirms equal opportunity in hiring practices. Offers of employment are expected to be made without regard to
disability, race, color, religion, sex, national origin or age.
In addition, ELCM sets forth the expectation that all participating employers will not harass any registrant or other
employer in either an emotional, physical or sexual way.
Anyone who believes that he or she has been a victim of sexual harassment or discrimination, or believes that he or she
has witnessed conduct that would constitute sexual harassment or discrimination, should report the matter immediately
to one of the ELCM staff. The report should be made as soon as possible after the incident of alleged harassment or
discrimination occurs; failure to report the matter promptly to one of the ELCM staff may hamper effective
administration action.
REMINDERS TO CANDIDATES
1. Be sure your cell phone is TURNED OFF!
2.
You must wear your name tag.
3. Expect to spend 5-10 minutes with each employer, but take your cues from the recruiter. Be sure to get the
recruiter’s name and title for use in follow-up contact. Ask for his/her business card.
4. Many organizations require candidates to submit an online application as part of their selection process. Do not
be discouraged if representatives direct you to their web page for this purpose. It is simply one more step in the
process to secure employment with their organization.
5. If the waiting line to talk to a particular employer is too long, go to another employer and come back later.
6. Feel free to talk to employers who have not advertised for your major, stressing your qualifications for a job with
that company. But do not be insulted if they tell you they are only interested in specific majors.
7. If you need assistance or have questions, come to the ELCM table at the entrance to Marauder Court and speak
with an ELCM Professional or ask someone wearing an ELCM staff badge.
8. Follow-up with employers is extremely important. A Thank You note should be sent within 48 hours to all
employers that you spoke with at the Fair. Visit MU’s Office of Experiential Learning and Career Management if
you need assistance.
9. WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK! The ELCM office will email a short survey to you in the next few days. Please take
time to complete the survey so that we may bring MU’s students the best employment opportunities we can.

It all started in 1946, when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville,

founded Chick-fil-A, Inc. in the early 1960s and pioneered the establishment of restaurants in shopping malls with the
opening of the first Chick-fil-A Restaurant at a mall in suburban Atlanta in 1967. Since then, Chick-fil-A has steadily grown
to become the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, based on domestic annual sales with
over 1,800 locations in 40 states and Washington, D.C. In 2013, annual sales were over $5 billion. Chick-fil-A is still

FALL 2014 COMPANY DESCRIPTION
CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK
Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion—
most of it $1 at a time—for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and
Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. These
donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all to save
and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
Our mission: We increase funds and awareness for local children’s hospitals.
Our vision: Together we save kids’ lives.
Right now there’s a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital working to save the lives of kids in your community. In fact, 62
children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute — that's one child every second. Some
are battling cancer. Some are suffering from a traumatic injury. Others require constant care because they were born too
early, or with a genetic disease. Regardless of why the kids are there, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals always have
their doors open.

FASTENAL COMPANY
The Fastenal story began in 1967 when Bob Kierlin pooled together $30,000 with four
friends and opened the first Fastenal store, a 1,000 sq. ft. shop in his hometown of
Winona, MN. (The original business plan was to dispense nuts and bolts via custom vending machines, but the
technology proved impracticable at the time. Several decades would pass before Fastenal finally popularized industrial
vending.)
After surviving the typical struggles of a startup business, Fastenal gradually found its niche – by going the extra mile for
customers and providing the kind of service that kept them coming back. Kierlin later drilled this approach down to four
simple words: Growth Through Customer Service. This motto has guided us forward as we’ve grown from a small
regional supplier into one of the world’s most dynamic growth companies – from one store to more than 2,600 and
counting. Along the way, we’ve aggressively invested in things that make a difference for our customers, continuously
improving a multifaceted service network that today includes:
•A stringent quality management system anchored by our engineering teams and testing laboratories around the world.
•Thousands of manufacturer-partners, making each Fastenal store a one-stop source for a huge range of OEM, MRO and
Construction products.
•A multi-site custom manufacturing division, quickly producing machined, hot forged and cold formed parts to provide
solutions for our customers.
•Regional distribution centers across North America, working with local stores to anticipate customer demand and keep
product flowing when and where it's needed.
•A large fleet of big trucks and local delivery vehicles, enabling us to move product faster and more cost-effectively than
the competition.
•The world’s largest industrial vending program, FAST Solutions, helping thousands of customers reduce consumption
and operate more efficiently.
