GVK MIAL bags the prestigious Golden
Peacock Award 2014 for Sustainability

GVK MIAL has bagged the prestigious ‘Golden
Peacock Award for Sustainability’ for GVK
CSIA. The award was presented at a specially
organized “Golden Peacock Awards Ceremony”
at House of Lords- UK Parliament, Westminster
in London. At the same event, Mr Rajeev Jain,
CEO, GVK MIAL addressed the audience during
the Plenary Session.
Considered the greatest recognition of
corporate excellence in areas of innovation,
quality, sustainability, training, governance,

social responsibility, the Golden Peacock
Awards assessed the applicants on the basis
of an exhaustive set of parameters covering a
wide range of issues and programs concerned
with the Triple Bottom Line of the Business,
also called the ‘TBL’ or ‘3BL’. The idea of “Award
for Sustainability” encourages initiatives in
promoting sustainable development amongst
organizations and rapidly accelerates the pace
of stakeholder oriented improvement process.
A Tribute to Smt Gunupati Rukminamma
Smt Gunupati Rukminamma, mother of our Founder
Chairman and Managing Director, Dr GVK Reddy, left
us for her heavenly abode after a fulfilling life of over
100 years. She was the binding and driving spirit of the
GVK Family, and would remain forever in our hearts. Her
ideals, blessings and grace will continue to inspire us and
encourage us to fulfil our dreams.
We pray to almighty that may her soul rest in peace.
GVKPIL receives D&B Infra Award for GVK CSIA T2
GVKPIL has been awarded the ‘Dun & Bradstreet Infra
Awards’ under the project category for its exemplary
performance for GVK CSIA T2 project. The awards
felicitated 22 of India’s leading infrastructure companies
and projects. Some of the esteemed winners in different
categories include L&T Infrastructure Development
Projects Limited, Jindal Power Limited, Bharti Infratel
Limited among others. The awards were organised by
Dun & Bradstreet which is the world’s leading source of
global business information, knowledge and insight.

GVK CSIA celebrates Customer Service Week
GVK CSIA celebrated ‘Customer Service Week’ from
13th – 17th Oct 2014 to enhance customer delight at
both the domestic and international terminals. An
integrated live musical performance was orchestrated
by NCPA artists who mesmerized all the customers with
their soulful rendition. An informative tour of the Art
Programme ‘Jaya He’ was conducted. A “Caption contest”
was conducted that received a phenomenal response.
Spot prizes were also awarded to passengers as a GVK
memento. Different departments and teams collaborated
to make this event a huge success.

Uniform Inauguration Day at GVK CSIA
GVK CSIA organized Uniform Inauguration Day
conducted by Aerodome rescue and fire fighting
department. The inauguration was done by
Mr Prabhat Mahapatra, Vice President-Airside
Management. The new uniforms come with
strips on shoulders with designation that wasn’t
available earlier. This department is the most
essential as they deal with fire safety at the
airport.

GVK CSIA T2 became the first airport in the
world to get Johnnie Walker House, a unique
lounge where travellers can purchase exclusive
whiskeys as they wait for their international
flights. This unique lounge is only the fourth of
its kind in the world, launched by Diageo Global
Travel in conjunction with Mumbai Duty Free
(a joint venture between DFS and Flemingo).
The impressive ambience of the lounge and
specialist brand ambassadors are ready to
take visitors on “a sensorial journey to touc h,
taste and smell the rare elements that make up
Johnnie Walker”.
GVK CSIA’s medical team saves Go Air cabin crew member’s life
GVK CSIA’s Terminal 1B Medical Team revived
a Go Air (G8 370) cabin crew member who
suddenly collapsed at the terminal due to sudden
convulsions along with massive cardiac arrest.
Promptly acting on this emergency, GVK CSIA’s
Terminal 1B Medical Team provided her with good
quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) which
included three shocks using Automated External
Defibrillator (AED) and bag mask ventilation.
She was also given emergency medications and
was shifted to GVK MIAL’s Advanced Life Support
ambulance. While on the way to the hospital, she
had another cardiac arrest and was revived again
by giving a shock using the AED.

GVK MIAL’s cargo receives TAPA Freight Security certification
GVK MIAL Cargo security crossed a major
milestone when it received Transported Asset
Protection Association (TAPA) Freight Security
Requirements (FSR) 2011 certification.
It has become the first airport operator in
the region to be awarded the TAPA FSR 2011
Classification (A) for provision of warehouse
services to Domestic Cargo Operators at its
Domestic Air Cargo Terminal.

Talk on “Obesity & Diabetes” as part of
Employee Wellness initiative. The speaker at
the event, Dr. Balaji Jaganmohan from Apollo
Clinics shared interesting facts about lifestyle
diseases like obesity and diabetes. It was an
interactive session where employees put up
their questions to the speaker.
GVK KIA set a new benchmark in its existing
premium airport services delivery with the
opening of first transit hotel in the domestic
departures. The Day Hotel by Plaza Premium
Lounge is a short stay hotel located within the
terminal with a flexible hourly rate payment
offering, and aimed at travellers needing a
rest during long transits or extended halts
between flights.

GVK Hancock secures Environmental Clearance for its Alpha Coal Project
GVK Hancock has been granted Environmental Clearance for its Alpha Coal Project in
the Galilee Basin in Central Queensland,Australia. This is in recognition of the extensive
environmental scientific rigour that went into the environmental assessment of the proposed
Alpha mine, which included around 300 collaborative scientific studies, involving over 500
specialist consultants.

Project crossed a major milestone
when it became the first expressway
project in Rajasthan to be equipped
with the Electronic Toll collection
system. This would highly reduce
the turnaround time for vehicles
crossing the toll and would thus aid
effective operations.

camp for its associates. The team of doctors
and other medical staff from Positive Dental
Hospital, Hyderabad conducted the health
check up for employees. The employees
were checked for their blood pressure,
sugar count and dental condition.

GVK BIO’s HEART (Health Emphasised
Analytical and Reporting Tool) platform has
partnered with Nano Health, a social venture
founded by ISB alumni.The application acts
as an enabler, through information processing
for the right stakeholders to decide and take
action for maximum impact. The NanoHealth
team also won the prestigious Hult Prize and
one million dollars prize money from Hult and
Clinton Foundation for their innovative and cost
effective healthcare solution for slumdwellers.

It is the world’s leading pharmaceutical
networking event, hosting over 34,000
attendees from 140 countries and 2,200
exhibitors. The conference provided
an excellent platform for identifying
business opportunities, creating new
partnerships and keeping up to date with
the latest industry trends.Leading the

The Informatics & Analytics team showcased the Data
Indexing and Excerption Service capabilities along
with GVK BIO’s proprietary knowledgebase GOSTAR
and GOBIOM at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Germany. It
was the first time that GVK BIO participated in this
event which has a history dating back to the 15th
century.This was a very seminal networking platform
for GVK BIO as around 7,200 exhibitors from more
than 100 countries present their products and meet
new business partners while more than 275,000
people visit the book fair. From GVK BIO, the event
was attended by Shiva Subramaniam and Nikhil
Tamhankar.

GVK BIO participated as event exhibitors to
showcase its Drug Development and Manufacturing
capabilities at the Pharma ChemOutsourcing
2014 organised at the Ocean Place Resort &
Spa, New Jersey. Dr Sudhir Kumar Singh, Kevin
Pattamana and Srinivasa Emani represented GVK
BIO. ChemOutsourcing is the largest USA-based
API show attracting annually 700-800 chemists
from the pharmaceutical, biotech, and chemical
industries. The show focuses on API development
spanning early drug discovery through chemical
development and commercial supply.
GVK projects participate in “Swachh Bharat” Campaign
GVK projects across many locations participated in “Swachh Bharat” campaign with active
participation from employees across departments. This great initiative would surely encourage
citizens of the state to come forward and contribute towards a cleaner India.
Taj Clubhouse-Chennai hotel staff took active part in the cleanliness drive of the city. They
also visited Friend In Need Society, an old age home and cleaned rooms and corridors.This
initiative was highly appreciated by the inmates of the old age home.Taj Banjara staff took
few areas in the hotel to start the cleanness drive. A special reward for the best team was also
announced. The team leaders prepared a presentation of their respective areas before and after
the cleaning. The event concluded with a signature campaign.

GVK EMRI’ launches Arogya Sanjivani Van in Dhima, Gujarat
GVK EMRI’s Mobile Health Unit was flagged off by the chief guest, Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary,
Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, Transport & Urban Housing, Government of Gujarat
on 22nd September 2014. The chief guest along other top dignitaries were also briefed about
the Arogya Sanjivani Van before the flag off.

GVK Corporate Office, Hyderabad celebrated
Diwali, the festival of lights with lot of joy and
fervour. The event was graced by our Founder
Chairman and Managing Director Dr GVK Reddy,
Mrs Indira Reddy and Mr Sanjay Reddy. They conducted
Lakshmi Puja and distributed sweet boxes to the
employees. The entire work place was decorated with
diyas, flowers and colourful rangolis creating a festive
ambience. The ceremony helped strengthen a sense
of belonging among GVKites.

women employees played “Bathukamma” which is a traditional floral festival celebrated in the
