Brock diagram
Electrical Double Layer Capacitors (EDLCs, super capacitors) are
energy storage devices which have longer life time than batteries and
higher capacitance than ceramic capacitors or electrolytic capacitors.
Murata’s EDLC DMF series, featuring low ESR of 50mΩ, can offer
high-power charging and discharging of 50W.
Murata’s EDLC can assist peak power for applications which
require momentary peak power. It enables to downsize various power
supplies. In addition, when using EDLC with battery or power supply
which has limited power, it can add high function to application or
improve application quality.

Explanation
【DC-DC converter reference】
TPS62750(Texas Instruments) Step-Down converter
Vin: 2.9V~6.0V, Vout: 0.8V~5.1V
(1)Downsize power supply
Capacity of power supply is normally decided according to peak
power. However, when using EDLC, power supply can be downsized
because EDLC can assist peak power.
LTC3128(Linear Technology)Buck-Boost converter
Vin: 1.73V~5.5V, Vout: 1.8V~5.5V

(2)Add high functions
When adding high function to application, re-design of powers
supply is normally needed in order to supply additional power.
However, high function can be added without changing power supply
by using EDLC which can assist such additional power.
