Dear Team Rep,
Welcome to the Edmonton’s 3rd Ultimate Basketball Tournament (November 7-9, 2014). We appreciate your
participation and hope your team has an enjoyable experience.

far East wing of the Saville Centre). On the main floor, there is a Dairy Queen/Orange Julius and a Sub Shop.
Food preparation is not permitted in the facility and we do not allow people to bring in coolers, large containers
or boxes of food into the facility. Players can each bring a lunch for themselves but no full Veggie platters or

Player Suspensions & Review Committee
We hope the teams coming to Edmonton all have a great time in the tournament and enjoy the camaraderie of their
teammates over the weekend. But as in any competitive sport, occasionally the heat of the moment will get to a player
and they may react to a situation.
Referees are totally in control of the game - their decisions stand during the game. If a player or coach receives two
technical fouls in a game, however the referee allows the individual to remain in the gym, there will be no suspension for
the following game. If a player or coach receives two technical fouls in a game and are instructed to leave the gym, they
will be suspended for the following game. If a player receives an intent-to-injure foul, strikes another player, makes
inappropriate contact with a referee, or threatens physical violence they will be removed from the tournament.
If a situation arises where you feel unjustly prosecuted and wish to appeal it, we have set up a review committee. This
committee is comprised of one or more members from the organizing group, one representative from the refs association
and one player from the opposing team. They will only be able to review player expulsions and suspensions - all other
concerns should be directed to the organizing group.
If you wish to have a suspension reviewed:






Contact Connie or Corey within one hour of the completion of your game. No appeal will be heard if the request
was greater than one hour from the close of the game.
A suspended player cannot play until their appeal has been heard. If a suspended player participates the team
will automatically lose that game and the suspended player will be suspended for the remainder of the
tournament.
You will be required to post a $100 appeal fee and then state your case to the committee. No review will be heard
without the $100 appeal fee.
Upon receipt of the appeal fee the committee will be convened for presentation of the facts and a decision will be
made.
If the suspension is reversed, the money will be returned immediately and the player will be allowed to participate
in the next game. If the suspension is not reversed but a reasonable case is made, the money may be returned. If
the suspension is not reversed and was frivolous or it was determined that the team misrepresented the facts, the
money will not be returned and will be donated to a charity (the organizing committee will not benefit from any
appeals).
The decision of the appeal committee is final and binding.
We honestly hope that all the participating teams, referees and scorekeepers have a great time and that there is no case
for your team to be involved with this process. Please call either Connie or Shaun if you have any questions on the
suspension or appeal process.
