The 30th Annual CES Facility Managers Training
Workshop was yet again a great success! There were
some great presentations this year from various
Procurement Partners and other support agencies.
This year we offered a variety of certificate bearing
sessions that included; Integrated Pest Management, Fire Code - Technical & Practical
and a session on Electrical Issues. We will be offering more certificate bearing sessions
next year as well.
Thank you to all the attendees, Procurement Partners, and presenters for making this the

JOC contractor LC Structural of Las Cruces was recently awarded a contract with
Dona Ana County to design and construct a three story high fire training building
that can be used by fire fighters from around the area to practice different
firefighting techniques. This design build project is a great example of what can be
done through Job Order Contracting.
These training facilities give fire fighters a chance to train in a structure that is
every bit as complicated as your house or office that you work in without actually
destroying the building. These buildings are typically complete with stairs, so that
fire fighters can practice search and rescue operations across the span of the
building and on multiple floors.

LC Structural has had a contract with CES since 2010
and has plenty of Job Order Contracting experience.
The County asked them first to provide a price for design and topographical
surveying. Once the design was complete the contractor was then tasked with
providing a price for the construction.
The County chose to access LC Structural through the JOC program because it gave
them a choice as to which contractor they could work directly with. Dona Ana
County chose LC Structural due to their rich history with metal buildings. This
project also requires a considerable amount of site work, concrete formwork, and
concrete placement.
This type of work is nothing new to LC Structural and they are well equipped to
handle projects of this size and complexity. Their selection was an easy one for
Dona Ana County and they are looking forward to a completed project so their fire
fighters can continue to hone their firefighting skills.
