3 VISION WATCH C H H AT T I S G A R H Governor, CM wish people "Patta" distributed among 134 on Guru Nanak Jayanti families from Bangladesh RAIPUR THURSDAY NOVEMBER 06, 2014 Raipur, (VW) In a rare gesture, Chhattisgarh government has distributed permanent "patta" of 99 years for shops-cum-houses among 134 families, who had migrated to India in year 1964 during civil war of the then eastern Pakistan (presently Bangladesh). These families are residents of Mana Nagar Panchayat area near capital city Raipur of Chhattisgarh. State Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh distributed "patta" among these families at "Jandarshan" Hall of his residence office on Wednesday. State Revenue Department has provided permanent patta for commercial purpose at nominal land revenue of Rs 1 only. State Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat and School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap were also present on the occasion. Chief Minister said that these families were called "migrants" despite living in the capital city for generations. It was an extremely painful experience for them, he added. After getting permanent "patta" from the state government, the tag of "mi- www.visionwatch.in grants" will be removed from them. These families will also be more emotionally connected with the state of Chhattisgarh after getting the "patta". State Government overcame all legal hurdles to guarantee a secured future to these families by providing them their own houses. Each family has been provided with "patta" of 369 sq ft of land. Dr Raman Singh recalled how these families migrated from their birthplace in Bangaldesh to Indian amid extremely difficult situation five decades back. Now Chhattisgarh has become their "karmabhoomi". They have an important role to play in development of the state. Many of these people were born in Chhattisgarh and have been living here since generations. They have their names registered in the voter list as well. Now, after receiving permanent 'patta', these 'migrant' families have officially become residents of Chhattisgarh. These families are presently residing in Mana Nagar Panchayat area of Mana Camp near Raipur. In his message, Governor said that Guru Nanak Dev has preached that one should never refrain from helping others, serving humanity and respecting women. His teachings are relevant in the present scenario as well. The "Guru" tradition initiated by him for Sikh religion and the way his successor Gurus have served humanity is extremely inspiring for the mankind. In his message, Dr Singh said that inspiring thoughts of saints and great personalities are not confined to any religion or particular community. Born in a family of hardwork- Preparations for Panchayati Raj and Urban Bodies in full swing Raipur, (VW) The state Election Commission has fully activated its machinery for holding elections to Panchayati Raj and Urban bodies successfully. State Election Commissioner PC Dalai reviewed the administrative preparations for general elections of urban body and three-tier Panchayats at Mantralaya on Wednesday. Election preparations being made in naxal-affected districts of the state particularly in South Bastar were discussed in details. In addition to finalization of voter-list, voting centres have also been decided. Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand, Director General of Police (DGP) AN Upadhyay, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) NK Aswal, Panchayat and Rural Development Department Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) MK Raut, Principal Secretary of Urban Administration RP Mandal along with Commissioner, (IG) Inspector General of Police, Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) were also present in the meeting. State Election Official Dalai discussed various issues like voter-lists, implementation of code of conduct, ballot printing, finalization of election booths, law and order, arrangements for counting of votes with Collectors and SPs. Urban body elections are to be held in December month while Panchayat elections will be held in January-February. In urban body elections, electronic voting machines will be used. Election to posts of Mayors in Municipal Corporations, Presidents in Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats and for corporators in all three urban bodies will be held simultaneously. Panchayat elections will be based on ballot paper. More than 3000 representatives will be elected through urban body elec- tions in the state and around 1.70 lakh representatives will be elected in three-tier Panchayats. Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand asked employees concerned to discharge their election-related duties sincerely and should comply with the directions of State Election Commission and conduct the elections in an unbiased manner. Director General of Police AN Upadhyay and ACS Home Department guided officials about law and order, prohibition related action, ban on illicit liquor, submission of arms license at police stations, compliance to code of conduct and use of loud-speakers. In the meeting, Collectors, SPs and District Election Officers gave detailed reports about preparations for elections in respective districts. He believed that food is the need of body but one should avoid temptation and greed while fulfilling this need. The Chief Minister appealed people to follow the path of human welfare shown by Saint Guru Nanak Dev. Successful candidates to get guidance from IAS officers Raipur, (VW) Candidates, selected for interview round in the examination organized by Chhattisgarh State Public Service Commission in 2013, will receive guidance from senior Indian Administration Service (IAS) officials. Mock interviews will be conducted for them from November 6 to10. IAS Association and State Administrative Service Association will jointly organize mock interviews at JN Pandey Higher Secondary School in the capital city from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm.
