REMAINS OF U.S. SOLDIERS BEING MOVED IN N. KOREA
By Hyung-Jin Kim
North Korea said recently that the remains of American soldiers killed during the Korean War were being neglected and "carried away en masse," in an apparent effort to pressure Washington to resume recover efforts that
could also lead to much-needed money for the impoverished country.
About 8,000 U.S. service members are listed as missing from the 1950-53 war, and some 5,300 of the missing
are believed to be in North Korea.
An unidentified North Korean military spokesman said in a state media dispatch that the remains of American
soldiers are "left here and there uncared and carried away en masse" because of building projects, land reorganization and flood damage.
The u.S. war remains "now look like no better than stones as land rezoning and other gigantic nature-remaking
projects made progress" in North Korea, the spokesman said "The Obama administration should not forget even
a moment the proverb saying that even a skeleton cries out of yearning for the homeland."
Analyst Chang Yong Seok at Seoul National University said the North's statement appears aimed at applying
pressure to U.S. politicians and officials ahead of November elections to resume the recovery project, which
could give the North a way to get foreign currency and improved ties with Washington.
The U.S. and North Korea, which don't have formal diplomatic relations, are still technically at war because the
Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty. The U.S. stations about 28,000 troops in South Korea to
help deter North Korean aggression.
North Korea has been seeking better ties with the outside world in what foreign analysts say is an attempt to lure
aid and investment to help revive its moribund economy. South Korean and U.S. officials have said the North
must first take steps toward nuclear disarmament before talks can resume.

WEST NEPTUNE
Gene Ballard, son of Carlos and Martha, recently made a trip around the world, working on a Sea Drill.
Sea Drill is a deep water drilling company, and this year had a new technology drill ship manufactured by Samsung in Busan, Korea. The name of the Dual Drilling Ship is the
West Neptune, which will be drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, off
the coast of Louisiana.
The West Neptune is under contract for three years, and
has the capacity of drilling eleven thousand feet. Gene Ballard has
made two trips to Korea this year. The West Neptune has sailed
from Busan to Singapore, from Singapore to Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Ballard flew to Houston thru Paris, France, for three
weeks off, and then will fly back to Johannesburg, Africa to
Walvis Bay to board the West Neptune on it's final voyage to the
Gulf of Mexico. They will arrive about the fifteenth of December,
where the Deep Water Drilling will begin.
Ballard is a Supply Coordination Manager.

Following WW II, the Army Graves

POTTY TRAINING DONE TEXAS STYLE!
A little three year old boy is sitting on the toilet. His mother thinks
he has been in there too long, so she goes in to see what's up. The
little boy is sitting on the toilet reading a...book. But about every
15 seconds or so, he puts the book down, grips onto the toilet seat
with his left hand and hits himself on top of his head with his right
hand.
His mother says: "Billy, are you all right? You've been in here for
a while."
Billy says: "I'm fine, Mommy, I just haven't gone potty yet."
Mother says: "Ok, you can stay here a few more minutes, but,
Billy, why are you hitting yourself on the head?"
Billy says: "Works for Ketchup."

Out of the mouths of children
.
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the
dishes at the kitchen sink when she suddenly noticed that her
mother had several strands of white hair sticking out of her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some
of your hairs white?"
Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something
wrong and make me cry, one of my hairs turns white.'
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then
said, 'Mummy, how come all grandma's hairs are white?'

GRACIE GAMBINO IS AGAIN
SOLICITING FUNDS FOR THE
WREATHS
The little dynamite of a fund raiser, Gracie,
is once again on her campaign to raise
._. money for the Wreaths Across AmericaHouston. Last year, Gracie, by herself, surpassed the amount that the Lone Star Chapter raised.
Of curse, all money raised by her is put in with the
funds that the Chapter submits to the WAA-H campaign. It's just amazing that one person, a 13 year
old girl, can have the ability to raise such funds.
Gracie has a full school schedule this year, along
with band practice and all that goes with that.

KOREAN COULTURE NIGHT
On Monday evening, November 3, 2014, Korean Ambassador Suk-Bum Park, hosted a night of Korean music and dance. The music and dance was traditional Korean heritage with meaning in every move and note of
the instruments.
The Korean Community had a very good
turnout for this event and the Lone Star Chapter was represented by Dick and Carol Halferty, Hank Daumann, Johnney Lee and Lee
& Charlotte Henderson.
It was an enjoyable evening and we really
appreciate the invitation to join the Ambassador and his wife for a nice evening.
