We had twenty-four tables on Saturday morning, sixteen tables on Saturday afternoon, seven-and-a-half tables on Sunday morning, and thirteen Swiss teams playing two sessions on Sunday as well. Players came from as far as Marin County, the East Bay, and the South Bay. Lynn Yokel was our director and Ted Richmond was our tournament coordinator. They both deserve many thanks for so nicely coordinating and organizing the event. Mary Bates and Drew Donovan both volunteered to help, and we also had much support from Nancy Gordon, Claude Hughes, Linda Schwarz, Patti Frederick, and Mark Sorenson. What a wonderful tournament and opportunity for Non-Life Masters, and thank you to everyone who lent a hand. At our last Board meeting, we revisited the topic of score pad settings for our unit games. Our unit game went very well in September with the percentages and hand results showing. The Board decided that the trial should be continued, however, for two more unit games (November and January). We will take a look again after those two games to see how they went, and we will keep you posted. Raad Bunni and Ted Richmond agreed to work on this project, and they have already drafted a new set of rules and guidelines which will be presented to the Board at our next meeting. This is such a valuable part of our bridge program, and we would like to see it be of as much benefit as possible to the mentees with the mentors having a rewarding experience as well. Eileen Battat has done a wonderful job as the coordinator, but she will be finishing up after this cycle. We will then need a new coordinator. Please let us know if you would be willing to take on this role. Mary Bates has very kindly agreed to be the new editor of The Unitizer. We are most appreciative of Mary’s willingness to take on this task, and we look forward to working with her. Ed Frymoyer put in his resignation at our October Board meeting due to “personal commitments and an impending move to the State of Washington more of the time.” We thank him for his service to the unit, and we wish him the best of luck. November 2014 that did such a beautiful job. She has quite an artistic touch, and she will be putting together a team to help her. It is a big job, and it takes a lot of time and effort. We all benefit, so many, many thanks to Sandra and her crew. We have two special unit games coming up so we hope you’ll save the dates. Saturday, November 22, is our ProAm unit game at the bridge club. Our holiday unit game is on Saturday, December 13, also at the bridge club. Both of these games are a lot of fun, and we hope to see as many of you playing as possible. Our next Board meeting is on Tuesday, November 11, at 4:00 PM at the bridge club. We are most interested in your thoughts and feedback, so please feel free to attend. Thank you all and we wish you a very happy Thanksgiving.
