Principals Report
Students not returning in 2015 - Thank you for letting us know.
If your child/ children won’t be joining us for the 2015 academic year would you
please let the office know as soon as is practical. This time of year is often when
families move interstate, intrastate or head off on various other adventures. If you
drop in a note or email to the school letting us know your child’s details along with
your new location or change in circumstances, it would be most useful. If you use the link to the school email
please write NOT RETURNING in 2015 in the subject line. Thank you.

Educational Principles – New Facilities
Log on to review the educational principles guiding the development of our new facilities. These can be
viewed on our school website and provide our view as to the educational structures needed to provide an
exciting and contemporary educational experience for our students. You can view these principles by using
this link http://www.harbord-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/new-facilities
In addition to these educational principles, the project aims to:
· To build around 18 new classrooms
· To remove a similar number of relocatable classrooms offsite.
· To improve library facilities
· To Improve school’s landscape and playground.
As part of the Harbord Community there is the opportunity to provide feedback using the link on the

these awards also include a perpetual trophy which these students look after until the following year
assemblies draw near.
It is now time to return these perpetual trophies to school for this year’s recipients to have their
names added to the list of previous winners. Siblings of these students are asked to return these
trophies to school as soon as possible.
Selective High School Placements for Year 7 in 2016
Current year 5 students wishing to attend a Selective High School in 2016 need to submit their
applications online by Monday 17th November.
Placement in selective high schools is an extremely competitive process and parents need to
carefully evaluate if this is the most appropriate option for their child based on his/her record of
academic achievement. Selective high school placement tests will be held on Thursday 12th March
2015.
Parents of year 5 students may apply online at: www.schools.nsw.edu.au/shsplacement

7th Annual Short Film Fest: Wednesday 19th November 2014 from 7pm
Lights, Camera, Action!!
The 7th Annual Harbord Short Film Fest will be held in the School Hall
on Wednesday 19 November 2014 from 7pm. A sausage sizzle will be
provided by Year 6 parents this year, selling sausage sandwiches and
drinks from 6pm outside the Canteen. Why not make a night of it and
feed your family before the Festival? Doors open at 6.30pm. We have
24 films, many of them quite short, with a total run time of
approximately 80 minutes. All students must be accompanied by an adult,
and individual film makers will be seated in reserved seats at the front, with the Hosts.
Entry is $10 per family, payable at the door. No tickets will be sold online, so it is strictly a
first come first served basis. With 7 class films this year among a big field, this year’s Film
Festival is looking to be another full house. Class 3K are looking forward to hosting this stellar
event for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks again to all film makers and classes who submitted a film this year. And a special thank
you to Harry Austin in Year 4 for providing this year’s Ring theme.

committees, the contact people are listed below.
Committees are also looking for parents who may have contacts with food companies,
printing/publishing firms, wholesalers, hire companies etc. Committees also need volunteers
