When I was contacted by BBBS that they had
a possible match for my son, Tom, I literally
cried over the phone! Tom's dad had just died two weeks before. It was perfect timing!
When we met Taylor, Tom was all smiles, excited, and engaged completely. They hit it off perfectly! Taylor has taken the time to do things with Tom that he wouldn't otherwise get to do,
especially in absence of his dad. He has played basketball and golf with Tom, as well watched
hockey and baseball games together. They have become instant friends; talking on the phone
and texting each other and becoming Facebook friends. They talk about everything from girls to
school and beyond.

Taylor has been such a positive force in Tom's life that his sadness over his dad has subsided
and been replaced by joy and enthusiasm for the future! Tom has recently been playing football
at school. Taylor came to his game and it made Tom's day even though they lost to the other
team.

Lego Creation Station: Mondays 9am-4pm at Museum of Visual Arts. FREE
Childs Play Toys Story Time (Mentor Moms): Bring your kids to story time every Tuesday at Child's Play Toys. FREE
First Fridays Free: Washington Pavilion: FREE Kirby Science Center admission.
Orchestra Hauntcert: November 2nd from 3pm-12pm. The Augustana Orchestra will present the concert in costume and the
audience is invited to do the same. The "Hauntcert" promises to be a mildly spooky event, geared towards entertaining families.
Everyone is welcome to attend and costumes are encouraged.
The South Dakota Symphony Gala: November 8th, 6pm-9pm at the Washington Pavilion.
ELF: Washington Pavilion on November 12th & 13th from 7:30pm-10pm.
Band Festival: November 14th & 15th at the Washington Pavilion. This festival has brought thousands of students from a fivestate area to participate in two full days of ensemble and clinic work featuring three separate bands. Tickets range in price from
$15-$20 and are free for students K-12 and those with a valid Augie ID.
After School Art Activity: November 18th at the Museum of Visual Materials. FREE
Jingle Bell Run: November 28th from 6pm-7:30pm at Falls Park Arch on Phillips Avenue. Be part of the largest holiday 5K race
series aimed to fight arthritis.
Parade of Lights: November 28, 2014 from 7:30pm-8:45pm. The parade will start at Phillips Avenue and run from 14th Street
to 5th Street.
