Trip to Nopera, Kenepuru Sound 16.08.14
Ross Williamson
Hello Farnow & Friends,
Here are a few pics of our fly to Nopera, a grass strip in the Kenepuru
Sound....John in his Sky Arrow EBR, and me and Jamie in the club’s Sky
Arrow SKO.
Foxton Beach
Kapiti Island
Cape Lambert at the entrance to Port Gore at the top of the South Island.
Looking south....from the head of Kenepuru Sound.....with Picton just
visible over the hills to the left at the bottom of Queen Charlotte Sound
Picton a bit closer view.
The Nopera strip on the western side of Kenepuru Sound....EBR just landed
On approach to the strip...the power line goes underground at the pole!
Grass wasn’t any shorter on the parking apron.
Dr Dunlop gave us a tour of Kenepuru Sound in his beautiful
boat...personally handcrafted too!
He then flew back with John....saving him many hours of driving then ferry
then more driving back to PN.
Looking west to a luxury lodge and some homes on the opposite side to the
strip.
Pete met us from Koputaroa on the way home.
Thanks John, for another excellent adventure, and thanks Jamie, for the
great photos!
Cheers all
Ross
