#Message From the Co-Chairs
Please take a moment to accept our invitation to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of
the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS) at the 68th Annual PRPS
State Conference to be held March 22-25, 2015. Due to the special occasion,
we will be holding the conference at a new and exciting location in downtown
Lancaster at the Marriott and Convention Center at Penn Square. We look forward
to seeing you “BreakingTraditions” with us as we roll out fresh, enhanced, and
exciting conference ideas. Our conference committee has an amazing and creative
sense that will make this conference a HUGE success through their countless
hours of preparation.
#Throwback Photo #Together Again
As you travel to the conference, picturesque Lancaster County will have you
appreciating the simpler life, with its rolling hills, farmsteads and roadside markets but once you reach our new conference
location, The Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, in the heart of downtown Lancaster, you will see a different side of the city with
a refined urban center presenting over 90 art galleries, fine dining, shopping, and historic landmarks.
Technology and social media are used more today than ever before and the PRPS Conference Committee has embraced them with
the use of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram along with a NEW conference app for your smartphone. Don’t forget to “LIKE” the
PRPS Conference Facebook page, follow us on Twitter @PRPSConference and Instagram at PRPSCONFERENCE as we will be
using social media to its fullest! The NEW Crowd Compass mobile app which you will be able to download to your smartphone
will allow you to connect with other attendees, exhibitors, speakers and sponsors along with having the program schedule at your
fingertips.
With all this new technology we cannot forget where we came from and who paved the way for us all. 2015 marks the 80th
anniversary of the Pennsylvania Recreation and Parks Society (PRPS). At the conference you will be able to reminisce with
colleagues about past conferences with an array of photos from “80 years of PRPS”.
Without our conference sponsors, exhibit hall vendors, program speakers, and conference committee our annual conference would
not happen. We want to thank you all who contributed in some way to make this conference an exciting, motivating one for the
attendees!
We cannot wait for you to join us as we start #BREAKINGTRADITIONS in 2015!

membership throughout the year. There will be opportunities for mentors and students or first-time attendees to get
together during the conference and to meet on their own.
Check off the appropriate box on the Conference Registration Form to participate in the Conference Mentoring Program if:
• You are a first-time PRPS Annual Conference attendee.
• You are a student interested in meeting with and learning from experienced Park and Recreation professionals.
• You are an experienced member of PRPS who would like to be a mentor and help new members maximize the benefits
of attending the Annual Conference.

#Room Hosts
Attention Students! Attending the PRPS annual state conference is a
great networking tool for students who are interested in internships
and future jobs within the parks and recreation field. Student specific
educational sessions, conference mentor program and volunteer
conference opportunities are included in the conference experience.
We are in need of room hosts to make introductory comments along
with distribute and collect materials during each session. When you
register, please select the room host box for the sessions you are
interested in room hosting. If you have any questions, please contact
the room host chair, Jessica Cirilo, at [email protected].
PRPS Conference Mentoring Program matches students with
experienced Park and Recreation professionals. Mentors will help
their partners maximize the opportunities available at the conference
by helping them establish networks of professionals, offering advice
on ways to benefit from conference attendance, and making them
aware of the benefits of PRPS membership throughout the year.
Check the appropriate box on the conference registration form to
participate in the Conference Mentoring Program.
If interested in volunteering as a room host or local arrangements
volunteer, please place a R (room host) or L (local arrangements)
on the session preference sheet next to the times and dates that
you would like to volunteer. Registration discounts are available
to students who volunteer their time as room hosts or with local
arrangements. Please contact Tracy at the PRPS office 814-234-4272
for more information.
