33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time 16th November 2014.
Relationships with one another are based on trust or lack of it. To grow in love, in friendship, in working relationships
we have to allow others to trust us and be prepared to place our trust in them. To trust, to place one’s confidence in
someone else is about having ‘faith’ in them, depending on their reliability, exposing oneself to their honesty and
sincerity. Trust embraces so many other virtues and qualities in life – love, honesty, sincerity and truth. In the Gospel
the man places his trust in his three servants and trusts them completely according to their ability – he recognises that
not everyone is the same so he doesn’t overburden any of them. The man is not looking for perfection but for honesty
and effort that his servants would do their best to reward him for his trust.
