The planning committee is working hard to make this luncheon worthy of the club’s and its members’ 50 years of dedicated service. To make this milestone even more special is the attendance of our Osaka Brother Club member Kan Tanikawa and his wife Yumi from Japan! The following Sunday on the 23rd is our Seniors Thanksgiving Dinner chaired by Harold Kuwahara (please see his article). Also included are highlights of past activities, the Teen Bowling at Fort Shafter, and our annual Chicken and Sushi Sale at the Nuuanu Y. These first 50 years have so far been very exciting. We look forward to another 50 years and more of continued service in Y’sdom! We can expect about 150 seniors from Kalanihuia and Kukui Gardens. Entertainment will be provided by Tina and her group of hula dancers and, something new this year, a group of Chinese women who will provide us with Chinese music played on Chinese instruments. This group was formed by our newest member, Abi Chong, wife of member James Chong. We look forward to an entertaining afternoon. Since we have been doing this continually for over 40 years, many of us expect things to turn out fine, but we still need the wholehearted participation of all club members, relatives and friends to make it work. Please make every effort to attend this very rewarding annual event. CLUB NEWS OCTOBER 2014 Nuuanu Y Service Club Bulletin 2014 Teen Bowling By Harold Kuwahara 22 But There were 21 students from Central Middle School who came to this year’s bowling at Fort Shafter on Friday, September 26. For most of them, it seemed that this was the first time they stepped into a bowling alley. All of them had a great time, in spite of their inexperience, as shown in the photos. They also “devoured” the pizzas and other snacks we bought for them. Tiffany from Nuuanu Y had to make two trips on the Y’s bus because it could accommodate only 14 passengers per trip. It was heart-warming to see all of them having such a good time. Tiffany was From: http://www.ymca.int/resources /ymcaywca-week-of-prayer/ YMCA/YWCA Week of Prayer accompanied by another Y staff member, Devin Presley.
