Celebrating 59 Years
of Community Involvement
Message from the President
Kensington Community Centre Association is a non-profit
Society that helps develop and maintain programs of a
recreational, educational, cultural, social and economic
nature that will improve the quality of life for the
Kensington Community. Our Association directors are all
volunteers from a wide range of professions within the
community. KCCA is made up of over 100 volunteers who
are passionate about the Kensington community.
As you review our 2014 Fall Brochure, I hope that you
will take advantage of some of the wonderful programs
the Kensington Community Centre Association (KCCA) is
offering this season. Throughout the fall recreation guide you will
see many of your favourite programs returning as well as some new additions!
In addition, the Association would like to announce the grand opening of our volunteer operated Youth Services Office
and the launch of the Student Youth Council. Kensington Community Centre Association is re-establishing the youth
demographic and involvement by building a foundation where youth can feel that there is a place specifically made
for them to have support, hangout and be recognized within Kensington Community Centre. By providing the Youth
Services Office, the youth programs and activities will finally have a “core” to establish autonomy and continually provide
youth development within Kensington Community Centre and the community, from now and for many years to come.
The Association want to increase overall community vitality and re-establish the once eminent youth engagement at
Kensington.
Kensington is a great community and we look forward to greater years ahead. For more information on how you
can contribute in helping to make a difference in the lives of so many in our community, we invite you to any of our
community events held by Kensington Community Centre Association or to speak to one of our board members. KCCA
is dedicated to providing the public with information on the Park Board’s drastic changes to the community centres and
what these changes could mean to you the public user.
For more information on the Association or how to volunteer, please contact 604-718-5863 and we will be happy to
discuss this with you or email the President, Milan Kljajic, at [email protected].

Le Petit Tennis
Rhythmic Gymnastics
1-4 yrs Musical Expressions
Come and join us on an adventure
of imagination in songs as we catch
shooting stars, see cows that sing and
fiddle, and tour around the world learning
cultural folk tunes and singing to exotic
songs in various languages. In our classes,
parents and children (0-4 yrs) alike take
pleasure in the interactive nature of the
classes and jointly participate in singing,
instrument playing, accompanying song
actions, baby sign language and dances
with a refreshing sense of exploration and
fun. The approach to the class is based on
a mixture of both structure and free play
learning. Wee Expressions is more than
the traditional children’s music program.
Our curriculum is based on researched
methods surrounding the benefits
of music infused with Music Therapy
techniques. All registrants will receive a
complimentary CD with a collection of
songs for the current term. A take-home
materials package can be bought from
the instructor for $21 for practice outside
of class. Siblings receive a 25% discount
and/or siblings under 10 months with a
registered sibling may attend for free. No
class Oct. 13, 2014.
2-4 yrs Tennis BC
“The Art of Teaching Tennis with Storytelling!” Children as young as three and a half
wait impatiently to fly yellow ducklings
over a mountain to find the mother duck.
They shout in relief as their duck flies safely above the crocodile lurking at the foot
of the mountain. And when their duckling
returns, the odyssey begins again. Le
Petit Tennis method engages children in
role play to teach the game. They create
images and stories for the tennis equipment, techniques and boundaries to learn
the pillars of the game. Coaches use a
series of stories, colorful books, games,
small-format courts with decorations and
age-adapted equipment like large inflatable balls, lower nets, and bigger rackets
to teach. No class Oct. 18, 2014.

As the KYC body you are given the opportunity to positively impact your community, by planning activates, speaking-up,
building relationships, having fun and building great volunteer hours and experience within and among the community.
