Enrolment Conditions:
• Where applicable, each student is asked to provide copies of the students 2 most recent
School Reports.
• Each student is required to have sufficient English Language competence to be able to learn
effectively in classrooms where English is the language of instruction.
• Applications for students with special needs will be assessed by the School Council on an
individual basis.
• Behavioural Standards are also important. Avondale Grammar School encourages every
child to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and use courtesy and respect in all
their dealings with fellow students and teachers.
Avondale Grammar School has a set of general guidelines regarding age group boundaries. These
boundaries ensure that class and Year groups are appropriate for the School’s educational, social
and pastoral care programmes. Avondale Grammar will assess each case individually to ensure the
most appropriate outcome for each child.
Each year, progress is cross referenced to standards set out by the NSW Board of Studies in their
Foundation Statements and the Australian Curriculum Framework.

The manner in which every assessment or examination for every course will be conducted
A variety of diagnostic and standardised tests are used in order to ascertain student performance
throughout each course.
Reports are written on the basis of comprehensive information gathered throughout the year.
Formal examinations include the Australian National Assessment Programme – Literacy and
Numeracy (NAPLAN) which is conducted for Year 3, 5 and 7 students each year. Results of this
assessment are analysed carefully by teachers and forwarded to parents as soon as they are
available.
Avondale is also registered to offer the Cambridge Assessments offered through the Cambridge
University Education Group.

All courses offered by the school are designed to run from January to December each year.

Our preschool programmes are designed to be flexible, with 3 and 5 day options for students in
Reception. Note: In Transition a 3 day and a 5 day programme is available.
From Foundation all courses are full time.
