BOOK of REMEMBRANCE PART II I A record of all Kidderminster men known to have died in World War II The Kidderminster Book of Remembrance The recently completed Book of Remembrance, which contains the names of all known Kidderminster men who died in all conflicts from the Boer War up to the present time, is now located just inside the main door of St. Mary’s Parish Church. The research for this book took several years with contributions by Don Gilbert, Ken Stokes, Mike Shellie, Kevin Lynott, Edward Perry, Ruth Butler and Gay Adam. The beautiful calligraphy was the work of Elisabeth Cooke and Peter Lloyd and the whole is bound in red leather. The handsome display case in light polished oak was designed by the church architect, James Hemming, and made by Oak Leaf Carpentry. Many new names were discovered in the research and over 70 have been added on a new section to the War Memorial outside St. Mary’s Parish Church. In the Book of Remembrance each name is recorded in black ink with the initials in red and any military decorations are written in gold. It includes the rank, name of regiment and place of death, where known. The work was instigated and funded by the Kidderminster War Memorials Conservation Trust. A page of the book is turned regularly by one of the churchwardens. A typescript version, prepared by Kevin Lynott, of the Book of Remembrance containing more details on each of those listed for World War One and World War Two can be seen at these locations : - Kidderminster Library, reference section open Monday – Saturday 9.00- 5.30 - St. Mary’s Parish Office tel. 01562 751923 open Tuesday-Friday 10.00 -12 .00 - The Museum of Carpet, Kidderminster open Tuesday- Saturday 10.30- 4.30 Online version at St. Mary’s Church Kidderminster website ( KPCTM ) November 2014 SJliNT _'Pt.iaRY'S C];:j7.'-RCE K1:PDER.o/IIflI'"STER V./ORCEBTERSBJP..E '9/.&~MEl.f!ORLJAL . 19391945 4916547 Troouel' James Ravmond AJitIrews till Battalion Kings Royal Irish Hussar's Royal Armoured COJps.Killed in Action in the Middle East on Wednesda)127'" May 1942 age 21 years.
