The Westfield Recreation Commission is made up of 11 members who are all appointed
by the mayor. The Commission has a responsibility to determine and formulate policies
for the effective management of park and recreation services. It also supports and sets
policy for the Recreation Department staff. In addition, it functions as liaison between the

Beg to Rock - Guitar - Drum Circle
Beginning to Rock -Students will learn the basic concepts of rhythm, pitch and how the
instruments in a rock band work, as participants will get a chance to learn to
play drums, guitar, keyboards and sing. The Guitar 101 class covers chord
theory, song study, artist study, melodic embellishments, proper playing
technique and posture. Our Drum Circle class focuses on the importance of
rhythm and listening in music. Students will learn the fundamentals of rhythm, how to
follow and establish a rhythm and lead a group.

If you enjoy tinkering with technology & designing & constructing engineering projects

Winter Golf Training
Get out of the COLD & into the “COOL”
Announcing our all new WINTER indoor golf program.
Get personalized one-on-one instruction from Teaching Pro, Bill
McCluney at the GolfCave in Clark. Each student receives personalized
one-on-one instructional training in addition to a customized video,
utilizing GolfCave’s Video Swing Analysis tool. Learn about the whole
game from tee to green, including the grip, stance, driving, fairway
shots and short game. This technology is very personalized & class sizes are kept to 4-players.

Fashion First– Designer!
Do you have a passion for fashion?
Fashion sewing & construction:
Participants will learn all about garment construction through measuring,
pattern making, pinning, marking, cutting & sewing a final garment. They
will also learn to use a sewing machine, and build on skills to
learn all the proper sewing techniques to finish a garment.

Mannerations™ - SOCIAL Etiquette
This program teaches proper etiquette techniques to successfully manage social situations. Some of the topics reviewed
include: greetings and introductions, being a good guest and
host, written correspondence, and behavior at celebrations.
Children learn through role playing, worksheets and fun games.
Offered to children 6-10 years old.
Social Dates: Sept. 30, Nov. 25, Jan. 6 or March 24.
Time: 4:00-5:00pm. Location: Community Room. Fee: $40/date.
Mannerations™ - DINING Etiquette
Learn the etiquette of dining in a fun interactive and
memorable manner. A four course meal is consumed
while etiquette instruction is provided. Participants learn
how to correctly behave and manage a formal meal.
This one-hour class is offered to children 6-10 yrs
Dining Dates: Oct. 20, Mar 30. Time: 3:45-4:45pm.

Westfield Recreation Department’s 2014/2015 REGISTRATION INFORMATION
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Registration will be accepted from the date of the program brochure's release. Instructional classes are open on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is strongly
recommended. Program fees must be paid at the time of registration (exact cash, check or money order). Make checks payable to the Westfield Recreation Department. Enrolled
participants should attend the first class as scheduled in the brochure - no confirmation is mailed to you. Children must meet the age requirements listed for the programs by the
first day of the program unless the program description indicates otherwise. Watch for ongoing announcements on the department’s website, the local papers, and flyers distributed through Westfield schools. Program registration forms may be downloaded from the Department’s website.
REFUND POLICY
A request for refund, due to personal reasons, must be made in WRITING five (5) business days (Monday - Friday) BEFORE the program begins. A $10.00 service charge,
amount may vary for specific programs, will be assessed per participant/per activity for all requested refunds, or you may choose to receive a credit (no service charge will be
issued on credits). Refunds will NOT be issued once the program starts. Full refunds are granted in the event that a class is full or canceled by the Recreation Department. Refunds
will not be issued for 1-day workshops, seminars, or special events. There will be no cash refunds. Refunds will be by Town check and returned according to the Finance Department's bill-paying schedule through the mail (allow 4 – 6 weeks for a refund check to be processed).
PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS
The Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine any program due to insufficient registration or other causes that may affect the health, safety or
welfare of the program participants. A full refund will be issued for programs canceled by the Recreation Department (allow 4 - 6 weeks for processing refund). Every effort will
be made to notify registrants of program cancellations. If schools close due to inclement weather, all classes or events held in school facilities will be canceled.
