Scholarship at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York
The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York (SACC New York) is proud to
announce the first Mikael Ahlström Scholarship available for Swedish students with great
interest in business. The scholarship will allow a young professional to work at the offices of
SACC New York for a period of twelve months starting January 2016 and ending December
2016.
The successful applicant will gain considerable knowledge in high-level event planning and
execution, membership services, marketing, and publishing. As a scholar you will also be
providing general support to the organization and you will get the opportunity to gain
considerable knowledge of the U.S. business environment and Swedish-American exchanges
by working to promote and enhance trade, commerce, and other business relations between
Sweden and the United States of America in all possible areas.
An ideal applicant profile:






A recent graduate of, or a final year student at, a leading Swedish university
Strong interpersonal and communicative skills
Experience from event planning and marketing
Entrepreneurial minded with a record of successful entrepreneurships
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swedish
International experience and/or background is considered a key qualification

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP DONOR: Mikael Ahlström, Founding Partner at Procuritas, the first Nordic firm focusing
on MBOs. Mr. Ahlström has over the last twenty-five years served as a board member in several Procuritas
associated companies such as Swedish Match AB, Gunnebo AB, Ticket Travel Group AB, LIC Care AB, Bravida ASA
and Lekolar AB. Mikael Ahlström is also Chairman and main owner of Byggmästare Anders J Ahlström Holding AB, a
publicly listed socially focused residential real estate company, and he also serves on the board of Gram Equipment
A/S. He is a member of INSEAD’s International Council, and he is appointed by the Swedish Government to serve as
a Director of the Carl and Olga Milles Foundation. Prior to 1985 he was Managing Director of ESI Coal Inc., a US
natural resource and energy company and worked at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York.
Mr. Ahlström holds an MBA from INSEAD, France and the equivalent of a BSc Econ from the University of Lund,
Sweden. In 1985, he received the Dr. Marcus Wallenberg’s Scholarship for International Industrial Enterprises

Studies. In 2009, in conjunction with INSEAD’s 50 Anniversary, Mr. Ahlström was named by INSEAD as one of the
50 alumni “who changed the world”. Mr. Ahlström is the founder and Chairman of Charity Rating, an Association
aiding donors to select charities. Mr. Ahlström and his former wife have also founded CHELHA, a foundation giving
grants to individuals and organizations keen to foster democratic processes and studies.
