Green Building Catalogue 2014-15
HSIL Limited is operating in three industry verticals; building products, container glass
and home décor retail. It traces its origin in Bahadurgarh, when in 1960 a tie-up with
Twyfords UK, set in motion HSIL’s journey, formerly known as Hindustan Twyfords Ltd.
The company started with manufacturing sanitaryware under brand ‘hindware’,
introducing ‘vitreous china sanitaryware’ a first in the Indian market, a game changing
move that established the company as a serious player.
At present, under the Building Products division the product offering constitutes,
sanitaryware, washbasins, faucets, tiles, wellness as well as products related to the
kitchen space. The Container Glass division is a B2B business manufacturing glass as well
as PET bottles. And, the home décor vertical operates under Hindware Home Retail Pvt.
Ltd., a subsidiary of parent company, HSIL Limited.
Brand ‘hindware’ under the Building Products division introduced ‘hindware Tiles’ in
2011 targeting the premium to high value consumer segment. Chosen from some of the
best state-of-art manufacturing hubs across the globe, the product bouquet comprises
a collection of high definition image digitally printed glazed vitrified (GVT), multicharge vitrified, full body vitrified, exterior full body vitrified, soluble salt vitrified and
high definition image digitally printed wall tiles. The range is an ensemble of style,
blending global trends, using superlative technology and quality at par with
international standards. Available in Metallic, wooden, stone, glossy, matt, satin,
polished or unpolished finishes, the ranges offer variety of choice to enhances the
appearance of the surfaces.
In 2013 hindware Tiles earned the GRIHA certification, a first by any tile brand in India for
its range of vitrified tiles. Sustainability is the key in today's world and green buildings is
a growing trend. We at HSIL firmly believe in balancing economy and environment and
this is a small step towards building a greener world. GRIHA has certified Hindware Tiles
as “Low Energy Flooring” product based on the manufacturing norms for use of
renewable energy, pollution control, conservation of resources and more importantly
use of recycled contents in the tiles.
GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) CERTIFICATION for Hindware
Tiles range as low energy product.
GRIHA attempts to quantify aspects such as energy consumption, waste generation,
renewable energy adoption, etc. so as to manage, control and reduce the same to the
best possible extent. GRIHA is a rating tool that helps people assesses the performance
of their building against certain nationally acceptable benchmarks. It evaluates the
environmental performance of a building holistically over its entire life cycle, thereby
providing a definitive standard for what constitutes a ‘green building’.
The rating system, based on accepted energy and environmental
principles, will seek to strike a balance between the established
practices and emerging concepts, both national and international.
GRIHA recommends the products which can be used in the projects
which are seeking GRIHA certification. These products can be used in
all GRIHA & SVGRIHA registered projects under GRIHA criterion 17 and
SVGRIHA criterion 12. GRIHA Product Catalogue is an online product
catalogue which has been developed to provide green building
designers and clients with all necessary information on green building
products which can be used in order to make buildings GRIHA
compliant. In recent times, the market of green building products has
increased manifold. This certification may be served as reference point
for all kind of Green Building related projects approvals.
