Let us be thankful for the gift of faith in Jesus Christ our Risen Lord who is the ultimate source of our consolation in the face of the sad reality of death. As I announced last weekend the work for the construction of the new Christopher Centre has now gone out to tender and the closing date for completed tenders is 8 December. The carpeting of the presbytery has begun and should be finished by the middle of the week. May God bless us all in the week ahead. CHRISTMAS FAIR: 2 WEEKS TO GO We are just a fortnight away to our biggest fund-raiser of the year. The Fair takes place at St Christopher’s school on th the 29 November starting at 12 noon. Thank you to all who have donated items so far – please continue to do so, particularly any new & unwanted gifts/toys, Tombola or Raffle prizes, groceries and cakes. All donations need to be clearly labelled and can be left at the back of church. There are still a couple of raffle prizes that we require – please see the list on the notice board in the porch. Raffle tickets are still available at the back of Church, priced at £1 per book. Please take a couple of books and sell amongst family and friends. A date for your diary: Friday 16 January 2015 at 7.30pm there will be a fashion show in St Christopher’s school hall in aid of the Building Fund. Tickets cost £3, there will be a variety of clothes on sale, all high street brands and some designer ones. The majority of items are under £10 and you can pay by card or cash. Clothes for all ages and sizes. There is no obligation to buy and you can try items on, too. An evening not to be missed – pick up a bargain! SOCKS WANTED The charity Lifeshare Manchester works with rough sleepers and they are urgently in need of socks. VOLUNTEERING WITH MARRIAGE CARE Are you looking for some rewarding voluntary work? Stockport Marriage care is looking for volunteers – particularly for the roles of counseling receptionist (two evening a month) and secretary (three meetings a year). Marriage Care is a national charitable organization which has its roots in the Catholic Church.; it exists to support adult couple relationships in the best and worst of times. We offer marriage preparation for couples getting married in church, and relationship counselling which is open to all.
