With its interesting past including Australia’s Cattle
King, Sir Sidney Kidman and intriguing stories about
ghosts in the town, there is something for everyone to
enjoy in Kapunda.
Hop on your bike and explore the back roads that radiate
Kapunda has plenty to offer in the way of education,
hospital, childcare, retail and industry.
The town’s mean maximum temperature is 21.6 degrees
Celsius, mean minimum temperature is 9.8 degrees
Celsius and the annual rainfall is 493.8 millimetres or
19.4 inches.

See the extensive collections in the Kapunda Museum,
one of Australia’s most comprehensive folk museums and

Experiences
The Fatchen Expressway makes for easy driving from
Adelaide (77 kilometres) or the northern suburbs,
while the Thiele and Sturt Highways both provide good
access to the town. Kapunda is in the state electoral

Kapunda is a producer of cereal crops, mainly wheat,
barley and oats. Value-added local services include
stock feed milling and hay processing.
Kapunda is well positioned geographically and close

Classified as Australia’s oldest mining town it
showcases the architecture, feel and the history of a
