Try a few of these ideas to help
fill the buckets at your party
Sweepstake
Charge people a donation to take part
in the sweepstake* (available on page
7 in this pack) – the winner keeps
half the winnings and the other half
comes to Crisis.
Bake sale
Whether they bake it or fake it, get
your guests to bring a cake to sell
by the slice – and keep a slice of the
profits for us.
Dress-Down Day
On the day of your party, ditch the
suit for some festive fancy dress or
swap your uniform for a onesie –
charging people £2 to take part is an
easy way to get the money rolling in.
Karaoke competition
Challenge your guests to a Slade
sing-off with a round of Christmas
karaoke – every entrant throws a
fiver in the prize pots with half the
winnings coming to Crisis.
RAFFLE
Raffle off something exciting such
as a day off from work – that’s one
prize sure to raise lots of money. Just
check with your manager first!

There are a million and one
ways to host a Crisis Christmas
Party – it doesn’t have to be
your typical event. Here are a
few extra festive fundraisers
you could try:
Carol concert
‘Tis the season to be jolly – and
nothing says jolly like a carol concert.
How about hosting a singsong whilst
raising money for Crisis?
Mince pie and
coffee morning
Ask people to bring in cake and
mince pies one morning to sell along
with some fresh coffee. What better
way to start the day?
Put on a gig
Know any music maestros who’d
like to put on a show? Get your
guests rocking around the Christmas
tree with your own special Crisis
benefit gig.
Organise a fashion show
If you and your friends have an eye
for the latest trends, give yourself a
platform to show off your skills with
a Christmas catwalk at your school,
college or university.

1. Preheat the oven to 170ºC/325ºF/
gas mark 3.
2. Put the sugar, golden syrup, butter and milk in a saucepan and slowly melt together but do not boil.
3. Mix the dry ingredients together then stir in the contents of the
pan. Mix well to form a smooth dough. Wrap in cling film then chill overnight.
4. When ready to use, remove from
the fridge and allow to cool to
room temperature before rolling on a lightly floured surface and cutting out Christmas shapes.
5. Transfer the shapes to lightly buttered baking trays and cook the biscuits for about 15 minutes (depending on size) until lightly risen and golden. Remove from the oven and while still warm
stamp out a small hole in the top of the biscuits for the ribbon.
6. Allow to cool on the trays then transfer to cooling racks and
leave until completely cold before
storing in airtight containers.
7. To finish the biscuits, pipe royal icing decoratively on each one and sprinkle with desiccated coconut. Leave to set hard then thread with ribbon and hang on the tree.

Helping Terry
Terry was working as a teacher. Married
with two children and doing a job he loved,
things were going well.
Yet Terry struggles with anxiety and
depression and over time his mental
health deteriorated. He suffered a number
of bereavements, things fell apart, his marriage crumbled,
and eventually he lost his job.
Life for Terry became incredibly chaotic. He was staying in
shelters, but often ended up back on the streets.

After four years Terry wanted his life back. That’s when
he started volunteering with Crisis, helping other clients
with reading and computer classes. Taking advantage of
the services offered at Crisis, he found a job as a drug and
alcohol recovery worker and successfully applied for a
new place to live.
He now lives close to his children and is grateful to
supporters like you for the chance to start again.
Crisis Kits
£25 could pay for a Crisis Wellbeing Kit,
giving someone a range of checks, counselling
and workshops to improve their mental health.
£50 could pay for a Crisis Skills Kit, giving
someone advice on which skills to learn, access
to accredited qualifications and practical skills
like bike maintenance.
£100 could pay for a Crisis Jobs Kit, giving
someone access to work opportunities and
financial awards to
help with equipment and course fees.
£250 could pay for a Crisis Housing Kit,
giving someone support with looking for a
place to live, ‘moving in’ items like second hand
furniture and training on how to set up home.
