Epiphany Catholic School FOCUS Volume 32, Issue 3 November 2014 Dear Parents, The mission of Epiphany Catholic School is to educate children to become responsible adults living out Christian values and Catholic faith. This is achieved by emphasizing excellence in academics, personal growth, and spiritual development in Christ. The cooperation and participation of both the parish and school communities are essential to this endeavor. On October 24th, our school community gathered in the old church to pray the rosary. We were led by the student council as we remembered in our prayers all of our school and family intentions as well as the upcoming elections. During this month of November, let us remember all the many “Saints” in our life who are now enjoying their eternal reward. Let us pray to them and for them for they are certainly a source of intercessory prayer. As you gather as a family around the table at Thanksgiving, continue to remember those people who have been a source of strength to your family. Speak their name aloud and give thanks to God for the blessing that you have received through them. It is also a time to ask the Lord for the grace we need to be a blessing to all we meet each day. On Saturday, November 1st and Sunday, November 2nd, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. the Church of the Epiphany invites you to an exposition and veneration of over 150 Sacred Relics of Saints and Blessed. This is a wonderful opportunity and a blessing for our parish community. All are invited. As you know the report cards will be emailed the week of November 3rd. You will need legal size paper in order to print the report card. This report card is a new format designed by the Archdiocese of Miami. Please see the letter on the website from the Superintendent. I will send an email on Monday, November 3rd, explaining some of the new details that you will see on the report card. Please contact the school office if you are having difficulty printing the report card, if so, we will send home a hard copy. The report cards do not need to be returned to school. I want to thank everyone who has completed their Volunteer Code of Conduct, Virtus and Fingerprints. All three documents must be on file prior to volunteering for any school activity. You are remembered in my prayer. Sister Margaret Fagan, IHM Please do not leave any valuable items in your car. It only takes a few seconds to open a car door and remove valuable items. This November as we prepare for Thanksgiving, each Epiphany family will once again have the opportunity to share our countless blessings with those in need. This year we will be helping out the St. Martin de Porres community. This parish is in great need of help and we are committed to making their Thanksgiving one where they can have the basics they need. A 'shopping list' with pictures and details of the items requested is attached. Take this list to the store when you go shopping. Counselor’s Corner Dear Epiphany Families and Students, My name is Amelia Rey and I am the new counselor @ Epiphany School. I must say, I am very excited to have joined such a wonderful team of teachers and your children have been more than welcoming. I can’t believe we are approaching our third month of school and I have already met many of you. As a school counselor, the goal is to help every student be the best student they can be; this includes working with the students directly as well as collaborating with the staff. Hopefully, some of your children have come home and have mentioned that they have met me. As part of my Character Formation Program, I will be going into each classroom on a monthly basis and/or needed basis and addressing different topics. Well, it is time to get back to the kids and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help ! Amelia R. Rey, L.C.S.W.
