EAST ISLAND OF EDUCATION
LOST...
University of Technology
LOST... is a series of ‘lost’ posters depicting the intangibles
that people lose. They are inspired by idioms and sayings,
such as losing one’s temper dignity or mind. Lost explores
delight through humour and wit. The text in the poster (bad
grammar and spelling inclusive) came from listings posted
on classified advertisement sites like Gumtree and Craigslist.
Some are humourous, some strange and some downright
disturbing.
Finding such delight in these virtual classified listings,
I physically reproduced them in the forms of posters.
These were than installed in various public contexts and I
documented people’s reactions to the intervention through
photography. Perhaps I can help some find humour by
highlighting what others have lost.

FOOD ADDITIVES:
A GUIDE TO NUMBERS
University of Technology
FOOD ADDITIVES: A GUIDE TO NUMBERS aims to make the
unfamiliar world of food additives more accessible through
the design of a reference book and an app.
The book documents every additive approved in Australia
and New Zealand and provides information about what they
are, what they are made from and their purpose.
Accompanying the factual information are playful visual
metaphors and bizarre-but-true written content designed
to make the otherwise dry information, more engaging and
communicative.
The app follows on from the book. It contains the same
content as the reference book but has been designed with
a shopping context in mind where information can be easily
accessed on hand.
Additives can be searched or selected by number and was
designed so that navigating was as straightforward as
possible. Like the book, the app follows a colour scheme so
you know which group of additives you are looking at.

ANNIE’S IDENTITY
Annie Chan
ANNIE CHAN is a dear friend of mine who was a recent
business graduate looking for a job. She is the type that
sometimes gets overlooked because people mistake her
shyness for a lack of assertiveness. So I created an identity
to help her gain some more confidence and hopefully get her
a job she’ll love.
I wanted to express the Annie I know through this identity.
She is definitely not shy when you get to know her. She is
humble, polite, always honest and assertive. She is very
much immersed in Japanese culture whether it be anime,
ramen or sakuras. I used a picture of Mount Fuji and sakuras
to reflect her life long goal to teach in Japan.

API Leisure and Lifestyle
Senior Designer: Chilo Elinon
API Leisure and Lifestyle is an employee benefit program
that looks after the benefit programs of over 100 corporate
clients. I have worked there for the past 2 years looking after
the inhouse needs of the company as well as supporting the
Senior Designer. Some of the things we designed include
the annual directory, monthly eDMs, posters for business
development and an illustration for JB Hi Fi.

Art Direction and Development: Jack Zhao, Small Multiples
The Creative Innovations Industries Centre is a
research centre in UTS who has worked with over 1500
creative enterprises since 2009. Every year they produce a
report that analyses the creative economy landscape. They
asked Small Multiple a data visualisation agency to visualise
this data in a engaging and interactive way. Under Small
Multiples’ creative direction I designed the look and feel.
