ART FIELDWORK TO BALBOA PARK
Balboa Park was the destination for 155 Guajome students from Mrs. Premo’s Art classes on October 30,
2014. The great weather helped to create super sketching opportunities at the park. All students took docent led tours of the San Diego Museum of Art where they saw the exhibition “Gauguin to Warhol” and
the Mingei International Folk Art Museum where they saw “In the Realm of Nature”, “Surf Craft”, and
“Three on the Edge”.
While at the museums, students were able to view an art work that was created by the artist that he/she
had researched prior to the trip. The student sketches were to represent Balboa Park which is approaching its centennial celebration. A great “arty” day was had by all.
Thank you to all of the parents who donated their time to chaperone!

Ongoing Adopt-A-Beach Program:
Help support San Diego’s efforts to move toward a goal of zero waste by volunteering at ILACSD’s Zero Waste
Cleanup in December! This cleanup event will help us to kick off our new Zero Waste Cleanup option through
our Adopt-A-Beach program--you can now plan your own zero waste event on your own! Volunteers should
bring their own reusable supplies to support our zero waste efforts: buckets for litter, gardening gloves, and a reusable water bottle. We’ll have some extra supplies on site in case you don’t have your own.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome, though minors under the age of 18 require a parent or guardian signature on
their form. Service forms will be available at the end of the event, and our staff can sign off on paperwork to verify volunteer hours. For more information, contact Lexi Ambrogi at [email protected] or 619-704-2778.
