Clinical Genetics and Biobank,
Division of Laboratory Medicine, Region Skåne
History
•
2009; The board of Region Skåne (RS) assigns to the RS director to review the biobanks under RS.
•
2010 (Sep); The board of RS allocates 50 MSEK as investment funding to the RS biobank.
•
2011 (Jan); The RS Biobank is organized under Laboratory Medicine and VO Biobank is created
through the merger between the RSKC (incl. BD47) and the Regional Biobank Centre (RBC).
27 sample collections at BD47.
•
2012 (March) VO Biobank moves to Medicon Village in Lund. 54 sample collections at BD47.
•
2014 (March); VO Clinical genetics and VO Biobank are fused.
Today; 84 sample collections at BD47
Biobank organization
• The Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO);
agency responsible for supervising health care
• The Regional Biobank Centre; handles issues related to
the collection, storage and use of samples stored in biobanks in
the Southern Healthcare Region.
• The Region Skåne Biobank (IVO reg.nr.136);
Responsible: Rita Jedlert

Assignment
•
contribute to building trust in the public opinion
 promote compliance to laws and regulations
•
contribute to making the region attractive to clinical and epidemiological
research, and facilitate further quality improvements within health care
 high availability to biological samples and relevant information connected to these
BD47
- provide infrastructure for preanalytical sample handling and storage/distribution, and give
advice on how samples should be taken and be labeled.
RBC
- regional service and knowledge center for questions concerning biobanks
