MINUTES 2013 Annual Meeting: Kansas Wheat Innovation Center; November 14, 2013 Present: Bill Wood, Jim Adams, Trent Winter, Bill Spiegel, Holly Martin, Jim Weaver, Mary Anne Stoskopf, Beth Riffel, Roberta Spencer, Barb Havlicek, Hallie Hasel, Amy Langvardt, Jessica Baetz-Caylor, Doug Haverkamp, Sheridan Wimmer, Cathy Musick; other guests and friends. Bill Wood called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome and shared highlights from the past year. He covered changes that occurred over the past year including the move to the Kansas Wheat Innovation Center, the 30/30 marketing effort and the website update. Jim Adams, Secretary: Jim proposed that we approve the minutes as written in the Annual Meeting program. Mary Anne Stoskopf seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mary Anne Stoskopf, Past chair: Mary Anne presented the re-election ballots for Jim Adams, Roberta Spencer, Mary Anne Stoskopf and Roberta Spencer. Doug Haverkamp has agreed to serve on the board as a three-year term. Bill Spiegel has agreed to be chair-elect. Bill Wood called for any other nominations. Seeing none, Holly Martin moved to elect the board as presented by the Past Chair. Motion carried. Cathy Musick, Executive Director: Cathy presented on KFAC’s previous year’s goals, activities, titled “Connecting Classrooms to Kansas Agriculture.” She highlighted the programming efforts and events the Foundation had. Following her presentation, Cathy recognized the Foundation’s grain commission supporters, Agricultural Advocate Challenge participants and the 2013 Board of Directors members. Angela Black, 2013 Janet Sims Memorial Teacher of the Year: Angela Black, teacher at Walton Rural Education Center in Walton, Kan., gave a presentation as the teacher of the year. Her presentation included an overview of her teaching methods, activities her students do and a lesson plan she uses with the Jeopardy theme about agriculture. Cathy Musick presented Angela with a certificate and a monetary gift from the Sims family to recognize her dedication to agricultural education. Bill Spiegel moved to adjourn the meeting. Trent Winter seconded. Motion carried. Bill Wood declared the 2013 Annual Meeting officially adjourned.
