Ulrika Olsson, PhD Chemical Safety Coordinator [email protected] 08-524 86679 Obligations for suppliers REACH regulation: Suppliers of chemical products shall provide the user with a Safety data sheet (SDS) and it must be in Swedish for products that are placed on the Swedish market. The SDS should be up to date regarding classification and legalization and consist of 16 mandatory sections: 1. Identification of chemical product and supplier 2. Hazard identification 3. Composition of and information on ingredients 4. First-aid measures 5. Fire-fighting measures 6. Accidental release measures 7. Handling and storage 8. Other information 2 Users of chemical products SDS for chemical products shall be available in the premises (lab) where the handling takes place – as a paper copy, as a data file or in a database (KLARA). Make sure that chemicals ordered from outside EU have SDS adapted to EU-standard. SDS shall be up to date with the latest classification and legalization. Everyone in the lab shall have access to the SDS. Everyone in the lab shall now how to read a SDS in order to find correct information in case of an accident. Click SDS to find SDS from different suppliers of this specific product: Ulrika Olsson 15th of January 2015 8 How to find SDS in KLARA 6) Choose preferred SDS: Ulrika Olsson 15th of January 2015 9 Notes of the responsibility for quality assurance for KLARA database If you don’t find your specific product in KLARA: contact your suppliers homepage to get a SDS. This should then be sent by e-mail to Ulrika Olsson so she can add your product to the database. If the SDS of your product in KLARA is incorrect or old: Get a the correct one from your supplier and send it in a e-mail to Ulrika Olsson so she can update the information. Most suppliers have SDS of their products available via the homepage. If not, send an e-mail to the supplier and ask for the SDS.
