BACKGROUND
The Indian Society of Plant Pathologists (INSOPP) was established in May,
1984 with headquarter in the Department of Plant Pathology at Punjab
Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The society focuses in the area of Fungal
Pathology, Bacteriology, Virology, Nematology and allied branches. It
advances recent concepts in plant disease management and provides
information on the latest developments and research advances in plant
health science through publication of its journal and participates in the
exchange of plant disease information with policy markers, as well as the
scientific community. It provides a forum to the scientists to interact on
important issues of Plant Pathological research, education and extension.
The society has organized National symposia and seminars on major
topics of Plant Pathology in various parts of the country. The last annual
meet of the society was held at SKUAST Srinagar in October, 2013. Plant
Disease Research is the official publication of the society and is being
published regularly. Several eminent plant pathologists have provided
commendable leadership to INSOPP, from time to time. The present
National Symposium on “Plant health for sustainability in the field and
horticultural crops” is planned to involve wide range of eminent plant
pathologists to come out with concrete recommendations based on their
research experiences and discussions during technical sessions on
different aspects of Plant Pathology discipline.
ABOUT Dr. Y.S.R.H.U.
Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, erstwhile The Andhra Pradesh
Horticultural University was established in the year 2007 by the
Government of Andhra Pradesh at Venkataramannagudem, near
Tadepalligudem in West Godavari District is the second Horticultural
University in the country. University has twenty five research stations; three
Krishi Vigyan Kendras which are performing their activities to cater the
growing needs of the farmers. Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University is
committed to develop the need based manpower and technologies to
resolve the problems confronting Horticulture and enable the horticultural
farmers in general and also the state of Andhra Pradesh in particular to
make horticulture as the most remunerative enterprise.
ABOUT TIRUPATI
Tirupati is a major pilgrimage centre and cultural city located in Chittoor
district of Andhra Pradesh. The town is situated at 150 KM from Chennai,
250 KM from Bengaluru and 550 KM from Hyderabad cities. Tirumala, the
abode of Lord Sree Venkateswara located at an altitude of 853 metres
(2,799 ft) is one of the most important pilgrimage centers in the world.
Tirupati has several temples and is a major economical and educational
hub in the southern region of the state. Weather at Tirupathi during
November will be pleasant with temperatures ranging 18 and 20oc.
PLACES OF INTEREST
There are many worth visiting places in and around Tirupati. Lord Sree
Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala run by TTD, Alamelu Mangapuram
Temple, Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Govindaraja Swamy Temple,
Kapila Theertham (dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati), ISKCON etc.
Chandragiri Fort and an archaeological museum. Sri Venkateswara
Zoological Park, the second largest zoo park in Asia, Regional Science
Centre, planetarium, Jungle Book near Kapila Theertham are the other
tourist attractions.

The symposium is scheduled from 18-20th of November 2014 at Citrus
Research Station, Dr Y. S. R. Horticultural University, Tirupati- 517 502,
Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural
University & Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University.
INVITATION AND CALL FOR PAPERS
Participation is open to all researchers and students and firms associated
with the field of Plant Pathology. Abstracts not exceeding 300 words written
in English in hard as well as soft copy to the Editor-in-chief INSOPP,
Department of Plant Pathology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana

up to 15th October, 2014. The affiliation and email ID should be clearly
mentioned with the abstract.
GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING POSTERS
Posters must include the title, author's name address, introduction,
materials & methods and salient achievements. Each poster will be
provided with a space of 1sq meter. Three best posters in order will carry
a citation and a cash award of Rs 1000/-, 500/- and 250/-.
INSOPP FELLOW
Members having seven years of continuous membership of the society
may submit their complete bio-data along with a demand draft of Rs
3000/- in favour of Treasurer, INSOPP, Department of Plant Pathology,
PAU, Ludhiana. The maximum number of fellows to be admitted will be
restricted to five only.

Tirupati is well connected by road and train to the major towns and cities in
India, Sri Hari bus station at Tirupathi is one of the largest bus stations in the
state and has direct bus connectivity to major towns and cities across South
India. Tirupati Airport located 15 km away from Tirupathi has flights to
Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, New Delhi, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Mumbai.
The international airport located at Chennai, (Chennai International Airport)
is 130 km away from Tirupati. Participants are expected to arrange funds for
their travel and journey tickets from their respective place of origin

Limited accommodation is available in the Guest House/Hostel .
Participants are expected to indicate the choice of accommodation and
price range in the registration form. One day advance tariff may be sent for
