Date: 19/11/2014 CHAPTER ELECTIONS FOR 2015‐2016/2017 Dear CSI Members, Under Chapter Bylaw 5.1.1 of the Computer Society of India, the Nominations Committee [NC] is required to invite appropriate groups of members to submit names of voting members for considering them for the various elective offices of the Managing Committee [MC] and Nominations Committee [NC]. Members are accordingly invited to submit names of candidates who are valid voting members with high professional standing, integrity and experience for the following offices of Managing Committee [MC] and Nominations Committee [NC] For the term 2015‐2016 (April 1, 2015 – March 31, 2016) 1. Vice‐Chairman cum Chairman Elect 2. Nomination Committee (3 members) 3. Managing Committee (6 members) For the term 2015‐2017 (April 1, 2015 – March 31, 2017) 1. Hon. Treasurer The proposal for the nomination should be accompanied by: 1. Signed letter / E‐mail from at least 2 valid voting members proposing the nominee. 2. A signed letter / E‐mail from the nominee confirming: I. Acceptance to stand for election to the nominated office. II. Willingness to devote adequate time for the Society’s work. III. Commitment to attend at least 3 Managing Committee Meetings in a year (not for Nominees to NC) 3. Passport size photograph (printed or digital). 4. Results achieved/action taken Note – 1: If the name of any nominee appears for more than one office, the nominations committee will be empowered to decide on the office for which he/she should contest. The NC will take into consideration any e‐mail or signed written preferences submitted by the nominee received prior to the last date of nominations. Note – 2: Nominees will NOT be considered in the following cases: a. Nominees with pending dues to CSI or b. Where disciplinary action has been taken or c. Nominees with pending issues with the disciplinary committee. The following may be noted: A. Only CSI members who have paid their membership dues for the year 2014‐2015 and have voting rights at the day of filing of their nominations, are eligible to contest the elections for 2015‐2016/2017 (Please note section 2.5.4 of CSI Constitution & Bylaws which says “On resumption of membership, the rights and privileges of his grade shall be restored from the first day of the next calendar month, except where stated explicitly otherwise”). B. Members elected successfully to the various elective offices are required to pay their membership dues for 2015‐2016 by 31‐03‐2015 failing which they will cause their membership to be suspended and will not be eligible to hold elective offices till they pay the dues and their membership rights and privileges are restored. C. Elections are not allowed to be conducted at the Annual General Body meeting of the Chapter. If conducted the result and privileges are restored. D. Chapter Bylaws: Section 5 – Nominations and Elections. 5.1.2 Moreover, no member shall be eligible for election for the post of Hon. Secretary or Hon. Treasurer for more than one term of two years. Also, no member shall be eligible for election for the post of member MC, for more than three terms of one year each in succession. 5.1.4 All the nominees must be members, other than student members, of CSI and can contest for only one elective office. The nominees for the following elective offices shall have to satisfy the additional eligibility criteria as follows: All nominees contesting for the post of Vice‐Chairman (Chairman‐elect), Hon Secretary or Hon Treasurer, must have served as member of the Managing Committee at least for one term. E. Chapter Bylaws: Section 4.3.1. “The officers of the Chapter shall be the Chairman, the Vice Chairman (Chairman‐elect), the Hon. Secretary, the Hon. Treasurer and the Immediate Past Chairman. The Vice‐Chairman (Chairman‐
Elect) after completion of the term will automatically take over as Chairman. The Vice‐Chairman (Chairman – elect), the Hon. Secretary and the Hon. Treasurer shall be elected by the General Body”.
