Breeder Tip #1
Keeping your A.V. clean and disinfected will prevent potential contamination of the collected semen
sample,. Many pathogens that affect fertility can be easily irradiated by simply improving your laboratory hygiene.
Breeder Tip #2
At the end of the breeding season, we recommend thoroughly cleaning your A.V. using our Next Generation® Scrubber Gel™ Allow all water to drain out of the bladder by laying in the sink with the valve
draining down. After 24 hours, replace the pin and using an air pump, push enough air into the bladder
so the sides don’t touch, apply baby powder inside and out, place in a plastic bag and set in the freezer.
This will add years of life to the MO A.V. without stressing the integrity of the rubber.

HR Lubricating Jelly is focused on the human medical community and therefore was tested in an extensive biocompatibility study wherein it was successful with mouse fibroblasts, making it safe for embryos and semen. In an extensive 2009 semen study by North Carolina State University, HR Lubricating Jelly was found to perform equal to or better than Pre-Seed, while other lubricants marketed for reproductive purposes fell far short.
Note: HR Lubricating Jelly is classified as "Sperm Friendly," as all lubricants can kill semen and therefore none can truly be called "Non-Spermicidal."

elevated on a piece of wood and/or a tank dolly (#558 or #559) like we sell in this catalog.

Just recently, it has become the “La Mode du Reproduction” that all stallions must have their seminal plasma
removed in order to ship a dose of semen. In some cases that is the reality, but in most it is an added expense
of time and labor. Below are simple protocols to ask “Does my stallion fit the following circumstances?’
1. His ejaculate has a large volume but consists of a low sperm count <100 million/milliliter
2. My stallion’s sperm seems to look as if it has been shocked; from the time of collection until I look at
it under a microscope, <10 minutes. This actually is a result of the seminal plasma being toxic to the
physical sperm cells. In this situation the plasma must be removed immediately.
Utilizing a Centrifugation Cushion
A “Centrifugation Cushion” is an extremely handy tool in that it prevents the sperm pellet from being
jammed into the tip of the centrifuge tube. We recommend Opti-Prep as our cushion of choice. Like all
procedures, after you have completed the process a few times it becomes second nature. We recommend
the use of a “Tom-Cat” catheter to add and/or remove the centrifugation cushion as well as remove the
seminal plasma from the centrifuge tube. The “Tom-Cat” catheter fits perfectly on a 10 mL to 50 mL syringe.
Projected Goal: 400g to 1000g for 10 - 15 minutes
Higher Volume/Low Concentration: Keep “g” force higher towards 750g - 1000g for 10 - 15 minutes
High Concentration/Lower Volume: Keep “g” force lower towards 300g - 500g for 15 - 20 minutes
Attempting To Concentrate Your Stallion’s Semen
Keep an increased “g” force on your centrifuge not to exceed 1000g
1. extend 50/50 2. Spin down & pull off excess plasma 3. Extend sperm pellet to 25 million/extended mL
Attempting To Spin Off Your Stallion’s Seminal Plasma
Keep a decreased “g” force on your centrifuge 400g for 10 - 15 minutes
Extend the entire collection accordingly
You will need to split up the ejaculate in equal volumes in each centrifuge tube.
1:1 if you are < 60 milliliters i.e. 60 ml ejaculate = 60 ml extender = 1:1
2:1 if you are < 30 milliliters i.e. 30 ml ejaculate = 60 ml extender = 2:1
Draw off seminal plasma with Pasteur pipette or a 0.25 ml semen straw and syringe.

1. We accept no responsibility for any product that we manufacture and/or distribute that is
misused or used for other than its intended purpose. Reproduction requires the proper education and training in order to succeed; do not attempt to perform a procedure if you are
lacking the knowledge or part thereof.
2. Merchandise and/or prices can change without notice due to market conditions and/or
circumstances beyond our control. The volatility in the current economy prevents us from
guaranteeing our prices.
3. On internet orders, UPS shipping rates are strictly estimated due to the package. We make
every attempt to safely package your order for shipment without oversizing. If shipping
USPS is less expensive than UPS we will make that decision while processing your orders
to save you money without delaying your shipment.
4. Credit returns may be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
5. Any product damaged by the customer Will Not Be Credited.
6. Credit returns will not be credited without an authorization number; contact our office and
we will issue an authorization number which must accompany the returned product.
7. INRA 96, Artificial Vaginas - A.V.’s (Due to CEM and other STD’s), Culture Medias,
Embryo Flushing & Embryo Holding Media are not returnable and/or refundable.
We cannot guarantee a manufacturer’s product that is outside their own product warranty

All international orders must be pre-paid via bank wire transfer.
All International orders will be shipped 3 days post receipt of those guaranteed funds.
