This is an introduction to the Old Testament as an historical
document of the Ancient Near East, a document whose literature
reveals the God of history and his purposes for humanity. The unit
focuses on the historical setting, the content and major themes of
the Pentateuch with a special emphasis on the book of Genesis.

This unit introduces the structure of biblical revelation. It focuses on
the unfolding self-revelation of God in human history as revealed in
the Bible. It provides understanding of God’s work in the world,
through a greater appreciation of how God has revealed himself

BS106 Hebrew 1
(BD elective/BTh elective)
Hebrew 1 is best studied for the whole year. The Hebrew 1 unit
aims to begin students on a life of study of the Hebrew Old
Testament and the message it conveys. The unit focuses on
helping students begin to build a basic vocabulary, acquire a basic
knowledge of Hebrew grammar and syntax, and practice key
translation skills.
A competent use of Hebrew grammar and syntax will ground the
student’s subsequent OT exegetical and theological work in the
original forms of expression of the text.

This unit provides students with knowledge and skills, from a biblical
and theological perspective, to minister in a multicultural and multifaith environment. From a biblical perspective it critically explores

congregational ministry. It lays a foundation for a more informed
engagement with the contemporary church setting.

This unit focuses on the foundational principles of ministry &
mission, the pastor’s spiritual life, personal ministry and the
proclamation of God’s Word. It will assist in the development of the
student’s commitment to living a life consistent with the teachings
of the Bible, and of building God’s church by the proclamation of the
Word through effective, loving relationships.
