Dear Nail Professional,
We’ve taken an exciting new
approach to our fashion reporting.
The big idea: to bring you more
big trend news in real time, as it
happens on the runway, with the
how-to’s, tools and techniques
which enable you to immediately
offer these same high-fashion nail
concepts in wearable ways that
will thrill your clients.
We hand-selected the top four,
most directional designers in
NYC and London who are making
news and setting trends as our
partners for the Fall/Winter 2013
season. The partners we chose are
perfectly aligned with CND and
our commitment to innovation
and creativity.
The nail we envisioned for
Alexander Wang, had a modern,
cool aura that we call ENIGMA.
The attitude of this nail is subtle,
mysterious, and finished with
pearlized matte. One of our
favorite textures for the nail of this
season is an eroded sandstone
surface, which complimented the
fragility of Alexander Wang’s new
collection which captures the feel
of cashmere, angora and mohair,
luxuriant yet airy-light as
a snowflake.
The real “killer” trend this
season: we call it we’re calling
FORBIDDEN, interpreted for

The Blonds’ new collection which
references classic horror films:
“The Birds” by Alfred Hitchcock,
and “The Shining” by Stanley
Kubrick.
The Blonds dressed their models
like Hitchcock’s famous iceblondes themselves, with retrofemme wasp-waists and pointed
pumps. But we all know how
a ladylike demeanor can mask
a deadly destiny, so we made
FORBIDDEN nails dagger-long
and pointed for the runway.
THE ENIGMA NAIL IS SUBTLE
,
MYSTERIOUS, AND FINISHED
For the most regal Fall and
Winter interpretation of these
ideas, we collaborated with
Michael van der Ham during
London Fashion Week. Our
baroque, hammered metal naileffects are royal, yet distressed—
a fallen queen in tattered finery.
And, sometimes girls just wanna
have fun. Creatures of the Wind
took inspiration from the punk
anarchy of 1980s downtown
color-clash, so CND created the
look we call SECRET ALPHABET.
We paired contrasting tones like
electric orange and lime with
flat matte gray and heather pink,
punctuated by frenetic graffiti
squiggles.

be virtual-only, and more fabulous
than anything you’ve ever held in
your gorgeous hands.
As always, nails rule! And so
do you.
