`
– the total “system” comprised of intelligent
electronics and functional hydraulics – controls, regulates and coordinates all key systems of the excavator.
Powerful – turbo-charged and after-cooled 12 cylinder
diesel engine, with direct injection and low operating
RPM.
Productive – optimum utilization of available engine
output via electronic engine speed sensing pump regulation. Increased work speed through pump flow summation.
Operating safety – the electronic engine-speed-sensing
control protects the engine from overload. Pressure –
and flow compensation eliminate unnecessary oil circulation and consequently avoid excess heat as well as
component wear.
Comfortable – large well equipped, air conditioner and
sound insulated cab. Seat and joystick console independently adjustable to individual operator’s size and
weight.
Environmentally sound – low noise and exhaust emission. Optional: Bio degradable oil.
Easy service – clear and easy access to all components.
Large catwalks, steps and platforms. Sealed attachment pivots, central lubrication system and extended
service intervals reduce maintenance costs.
Versatile – different lengths of gooseneck booms,
assortment of sticks and an extensive variety of
buckets, bottom dump shovels and grapples provide
application versatility.
Economical – the combination of all the above, results in
top performance at low operating costs.

Diesel engine
The heavy duty, water-cooled, turbo-charged and aftercooled Cummins Diesel engine delivers superior power
and high power reserves. Its low operating speed
results in lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions
and an extended engine life. The enclosed engine compartment is easily accessible through full sized, easy to
open doors and permits “walk in” access to all components for easy service.
Litronic-System
The electronic engine-speed-sensing pump regulation
allows full utilization of the engines available output,
independent from external influences. The variable
displacement axial piston pumps are fitted with an
electro-hydraulic regulator which reacts in fractions of
a second to the changing requirements of power or
speed.
Flow compensation reduces pump flow to a minimum
when joystick levers are in neutral, avoiding excess
heat and energy loss. The same effect is achieved with
pressure compensation which minimizes pump flow
prior to reaching maximum operating pressure. An
automatic oil flow optimizer assures efficient power
distribution to each individual function.
The operators comfort and efficiency is enhanced by
the LED display and monitoring system. It monitors all
vital machine functions and includes a variety of automatic safety features. The Litronic system offers extensive customer benefits, such as improved efficiency,
reduced fuel consumption and overall economy.
Undercarriage
An overall low center of gravity for the machine is
achieved through favorable weight distribution of the
machines undercarriage, upper structure and attachment. This low center of gravity, combined with a wide
undercarriage base, provides excellent stability in all
operating conditions.
The final drive consists of a Liebherr planetary reduction gear with a high mounted axial piston motor and
hydraulic lines integrated into the central girder for
maximum protection. Additional protection is provided
by the heavy duty hinged protective structure.
The two track frames are removable for easy transportation. Car body and track frames are connected with a
unique “hook and key” design, which shortens and simplifies assembly.
More Benefits Through Advanced
Technology.
4
Cab
The raised, spacious and comfortable cab features
oversized, tinted windows and offers an excellent view
of the trucks being loaded and general all-around visibility. The comfortable, air suspended and shock absorbed seat is adjustable to each individual operators
size and weight. An air conditioner, integrated into the
cab roof, is standard and increases operator comfort
even in the most adverse conditions. A falling object
protective structure (FOPS) is integrated into the roof.
The control and instrument panel is within easy view of
the operator. Service and control indicators, combined
in a display screen, conveniently and continuously
informs the operator, via symbols, of all machine functions. Effortless and precise joystick levers are comfortably integrated into the seat console.
Attachments
Strict use of fine grain alloy steel plates, true hollow
box structures and large size cast steel components in
high stress areas result in strong attachments with
high availability and long life expectancy. Widely spaced
pivots in the attachment allow the use of two short,
large diameter, hardened and chromed pins and low
wear, high alloy steel bushings. Completely sealed,
floating pins and bushings increase lubrication intervals and attachment availability.
Shovel and backhoe buckets are especially strong and
wear resistant. The optimized bucket shape achieves a
faster and higher degree of fill. A number of different
length sticks, booms and various size buckets allow the
machine to be tailored to all types of materials and
applications.
Swing Drive
Swing acceleration of the upper carriage is accomplished via two axial piston motors flanged to two
Liebherr planetary reduction gears. The swing pump
and swing motors are linked in an independent closedloop circuit. This system produces high swing torque,
fast swing accelerations and deceleration, requires less
power and shortens cycle times.
The high swing torque created by the Liebherr planetary
reduction gears, is transmitted to the Liebherr swing
ring which features internal teeth for maximum protection from external damage and contamination.
The swing operation is independent from all other travel
and attachment functions.
