Like Mel Hambelton Ford on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mhford We advanced to the Sub-State championship for the 3rd time in 5 years by beating Andover Central 38-14! I felt that our kids played extremely hard. I am very proud of their effort and how the boys are representing Buhler High School. On offense Dillon Engelland had another great game. He rushed for 184 yards on 21 carries and had 3 TD’s. Jace Williams had 147 yards rushing on 21 carries and 1 TD. Jace was 5-15 passing with 86 yards and 1 TD. Dakota Wolf had 1 reception for 51 yards and 1 TD. Dakota has set the single season receiving record with 946 yards. JP Lohrentz had the old record with 934 yards. Chase Shantz continues to have a great senior year. He had 1 great catch for 10 yards and he is blocking very well from his tight end position. Our offensive line continues to get better every game. Dustin Rush was our Mooseman and Davey Dukart was Runner-Up. Our defense had one of its best games of the year. We held Andover Central to 249 yards of total offense. We held their running back to 85 yards. He only had 7 yards on 8 carries in the second half. Jordan Wedel and Jaden Abernathy had 12 tackles and led the team. Jordan had 1 interception. Chase Shantz had 4 tackles for loss, 9 total tackles and 2 PBU’s (pass break ups). Davey Dukart continues to improve on defense he had 7 tackles and 4 QB hurries. IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A CRUSADER!!! Hayden has a good QB and several good running backs. On defense they run a 4-2-5 and their 2 middle linebackers are the strength of the defense. We will need good combo blocks and will have to get to the linebackers. We have played Hayden 5 times in the last 8 years. The path to the State Championship always seems to go through Hayden. One nice thing is the path to the State Championship game for Hayden goes through BUHLER!!!!!!!! I know our kids will play very hard and give us everything they have. I am very proud of the team and family we have become!!!! - Coach Steve Warner Dillons Rewards The Dillons Card Program is still active and available for your use to benefit Buhler Football. He has been a special teams specialist as well as playing receiver and defensive back. When I ask what he’ll remember about his football career he recalls a kickoff return that he took to the house – his first touchdown. Unfortunately when he got to the sidelines, coach broke the news that a flag nullified the play – OUCH! Chris played youth baseball and basketball as well. His first love is track. He’s ran track through middle school and high school. Last year he ran the 100, 200, relays and went to the regional track meet in the long jump. Chris would love to continue running track next year. Band is a big part of Chris’s high school years. He has played the alto saxophone since the sixth grade. This year he competed with the band in Tulsa (The Renegade Review) where they took eleventh place making the finals. They also made a trip to Central Missouri University in Warrensburg, Missouri where they took seventh overall. Chris does have a number of hobbies. He built model cars through junior high. He likes to fish and takes a family fishing trip to Neosho Missouri every year bagging catfish. Chris plans to attend HCC next year with plans to pursue studies in architecture or graphic design. He’s looking forward to taking care of unfinished business first on Friday in Topeka as the quest for back to back State title nears an end. Senior Spotlight Sponsor of the Week Address: 11771 W. We were able to come away undefeated in our division with a 36-20 win against Goddard last Thursday. It all started with a huge stop by our defense on their 1st possession. Then on our first offensive play of the night Colton Goans handed off to Jordan Hawkins on a jet sweep. Jordan turned on the afterburners and, after a nice block by Cale McCabe, scampered 65 yards down the sideline for a score. On the next drive, Cole Janzen scored on a 70 yd. trap play up the middle and we tacked on a nice extra point with a QB scramble and hook up with tight end Tharin Cook. One of the highlights on defense came when the Goddard QB came down the line on an option play and was forced to pitch. Unfortunately for him there was no pitch man and the ball ended up on the turf, at which time Garrison Foulk scooped it up and took it 50 yds. for the score. It was a fun year seeing these young men come together and fight for the league championship and ultimately achieve their goal. I look forward to following them on up through their high school football careers and hopefully more championships at the STATE level! -Coach Jory Konrade ©2013 Buhler Football Roundtable PHMS 7th Grade Schedules 7th Grade A Team Date Thursday, Sept 4 Thursday, Sept 11 Thursday, Sept 18 Thursday, Sept 25 Thursday, Oct 2 Thursday, Oct 9 Thursday, Oct 16 7th Grade B Team Date Thursday, Sept 4 Monday, Sept 15 Thursday, Sept 18 Thursday, Sept 25 Monday, Oct 6 Monday, Oct 13 Time 5:00PM 5:00PM 5:00PM 5:00PM 5:00PM 5:00PM 5:00PM Time 6:30PM 4:00PM 6:30PM 6:30PM 5:00PM 5:00PM Opponent Valley Center Goddard-Eisen. This was a great performance by the B team to finish off their football season. No stats were taken for this game. The 7th grade football team finished up their season on Thursday, October 16th with a thrilling 22-20 victory over Goddard. This was just a great 7th grade game. So many good plays were made by so many players to preserve the win. Austin Gentry got the scoring started for the Crusaders with a 38 yard run and he also ran the PAT in to give the Crusaders a 8-0 lead. Goddard came back and scored on a long run as well, but the Crusaders stopped them on the PAT to hold a 8-6 lead. Goddard took the lead with a touchdown run and made the PAT to take a 14-8 lead. The Crusaders came back and scored on an Austin Gentry 6 yard touchdown run. The PAT was no good so the score was tied 14-14. Goddard scored just before the half to make the score 20-14 at halftime. Luke Winters had a huge tackle on the PAT to keep Goddard out of the endzone. The Crusaders made a halftime adjustment to switch to a 6-2 defense. The kids did a great job in stopping the run. Early in the 3rd quarter Ian Stubbs took the hand-off on a trap play and raced 35 yards for a touchdown to make it 20-20. The offensive line blocked the play perfectly. The oh so important extra point play was converted on a pass play from Cade Miller to Briggam McCurdy. Briggam made a nice catch and move to get into the endzone for the go ahead to point conversion. The Crusaders lead 22-20. The 4th quarter was exciting and intense. Big stops were made by several Crusaders. Kahalawai McDowell had a huge interception to stop a Goddard drive. Late in the 4th quarter Buhler had a chance to ice the game, but turned the ball over. Godard took the ball down to the 20 yard line and Thomas Cox made a touchdown saving tackle. The Crusaders forced Goddard into a 2nd & long and Thomas Cox stepped in front of a pass down the middle and intercepted the ball, a huge play to give the ball back to the Crusaders with a little over a minute left in the game. Goddard used their last time out and the Crusaders were able to take a knee the last 3 snaps of the game to get an awesome 22-20 win. I'm so proud of these kids for sticking with it and getting much better the last 3 weeks of the season. It was an awesome way to end the season!! A great team effort!! The excitement after the game was incredible!! -Coach Jon McLean ©2013 Buhler Football Roundtable Varsity Stat’s, Stat’s and Stat’s 2014 DEFENSIVE STATISTICS SEASON TO DATE - THROUGH GAME 11 BUHLER HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER WEDEL, JORDAN STILES, ZAC WOLF, DAKOTA SHANTZ, CHASE DUKART, DAVEY MILLER, KOLTON ABERNATHY, JADEN WILLIAMS, JACE RIDDER, CONNOR ENGELLAND, DYLAN HAWKINSON, TRISTAN LINDBLOOM, LOGAN PETERSON, CLAYTON POTTER, JOSH POTTER, ALEX WHITE, ETHAN WIEHL, HUNTER HOSKINSON, JOE GOERTZEN, JACK LACKEY, TANNER BICKEL, AUSTIN FULMER, ETHAN REUSSER, CHRIS WEAST, JACOB RICKER, ETHAN GOERTZEN, HANK DOWELL, TYLER ROBERTS, DALTON BURKHART, JAKE DICK, NATE MCCRARY, JAKE BURKHART, JHET ROSE, BRADEN WHITSON, TYLER TOTALS Takeways Margin SOLO ASSIST TACKLE TACKLE 33 TACKLE 36 FOR LOSS 45 47 8 31 39 7 20 14 4 31 25 26 22 44 4 16 21 4 29 39 10 32 25 1 36 31 1 19 7 1 18 20 1 26 49 3 7 10 6 7 1 10 9 16 14 3 3 5 2 1 15 9 2 2 4 1 5 1 2 1 3 1 2 1 1 4 4 1 5 2 1 5 403 25 13 3 4 3 433 72 SACK TOTAL SOLO TOTAL TACKLES TACKLES 2 2 2 7 1 2 2 2 20 55 40 26 64 27 22 41 33 37 20 19 29 7 7 10 16 3 8 15 2 0 1 1 0 3 2 1 1 4 1 5 0 1 0 5 495 102 79 40 89 71 43 80 58 68 27 39 78 17 14 19 30 6 10 24 4 4 6 3 1 4 2 1 1 8 1 7 4 4 8 928 FUM REC FORCED FUMBLE 1 1 1 1 2 INT QB HURRY 2 2 2 2 2 1 4 2 9 7 11 11 14 1 3 4 2 1 1 1 1 PBU PUNT BLOCK 2 3 1 2 1 7 4 3 7 1 1 3 1 2 2 1 1 1 1 10 11 15 61 34 1 12 2014 Offensive Team Leaders SEASON TO DATE Date 9/5/2014 9/12/2014 9/19/2014 9/26/2014 10/3/2014 10/10/2014 10/17/2014 10/24/2014 10/31/2014 11/7/2014 11/14/2014 11/21/2014 Opponent Result Rushing Leader Receiving Leader Passing Leader Andale Mulvane Winfield Augusta Rose Hill El Dorado Hays McPherson Abilene Ulysses Andover Central Topeka Hayden L 20 - 41 W 34 - 6 W 50 - 15 W 55 - 27 W 48 - 3 W 60 - 7 W 55 - 21 L 42 - 44 W 28 - 14 W 49 - 27 W 38 - 14 #7 Jace Williams, 209 #25 Dillon Engelland, 103 #7 Jace Williams, 143 #7 Jace Williams, 230 #25 Dillon Engelland, 244 #25 Dillon Engelland, 198 #7 Jace Williams, 301 #7 Jace Williams, 140 #25 Dillon Engelland, 109 #25 Dillon Engelland, 201 #25 Dillon Engelland, 184 #3 Dakota Wolf, 65 #30 Connor Ridder, 101 #36 Tristan Hawkinson, 82 #3 Dakota Wolf, 128 #3 Dakota Wolf, 40 #3 Dakota Wolf, 216 #30 Connor Ridder, 99 #3 Dakota Wolf, 185 #3 Dakota Wolf, 52 #3 Dakota Wolf, 90 #3 Dakota Wolf, 51 #7 Jace Williams, 159 #7 Jace Williams, 217 #7 Jace Williams, 291 #7 Jace Williams, 160 #7 Jace Williams, 103 #7 Jace Williams, 239 #7 Jace Williams, 177 #7 Jace Williams, 285 #7 Jace Williams, 108 #7 Jace Williams, 152 #7 Jace Williams, 86 ©2013 Buhler Football Roundtable Varsity Season to Date Stat’s Buhler Opponent Scoring 479 229 Points Per Game 43.5 20.8 Downs First Downs 248 155 First Downs - Rushing 168 86 First Downs - Passing 73 60 First Downs - Penalties 7 9 Third Down Conversions/Attempts 62/113 (54.9%) 52/143 (36.4%) Fourth Down Conversions/Attempts 10/29 (34.5%) 14/28 (50.0%) Turnovers 15 24 Rushing 3740 1644 Attempts 491 388 Average Per Rush 7.6 4.2 Average Per Game 340 149.5 Rushing TDs 53 15 Passing 1977 1510 Completions- Attempts 109 - 187 109 - 210 Avg Per Attempt 10.6 7.2 Avg Per Completion 18.1 13.9 Avg Per Game 179.7 137.3 Passing TDs 16 14 Interceptions 5 14 Fumbles - Lost 10 - 10 15 - 10 Total Offense 5717 3154 Total Plays 678 594 Average per Play 8.4 5.3 Average Per Game 519.7 286.7 Big Plays (>20 yds) 67 58 Time of Possession 4:35:31 4:12:29 Penalties - Yards 39 - 304 39 - 333 Kickoff Returns 41 60 Yards 510 1051 Average Per Attempt 12.4 17.5 Kickoff Return TDs 0 0 Kickoffs 81 45 Yards 3873 1950 Average 47.8 43.3 Touchbacks 20 2 Punt Returns 23 13 Yards 48 123 Fair Catches 0 0 Average Per Attempt 2.1 9.5 Punt Return TDs 0 1 Punts 15 44 Yards 538 1588 Punting Touchbacks 0 4 Average Yards Per Punt 35.9 36.1 Punts Blocked 0 1 Field Goals Made - Attempted 1-3 2-3 PAT Made - Attempted 56 - 66 19 - 23 Two Point Conversions Made - Attempted 3-3 6-9 ©2013 Buhler Football Roundtable Game Center Stat’s ©2013 Buhler Football Roundtable 2014 Platinum Sponsor www.mhford.com 2014 Gold Sponsors www.hubcoinc.com www.mannlawoffices.com www.grenevisiongroup.com/doctor/Tim_Ridder.html Dr. Tim Ridder www.lairdnollerhutch.com www.fnta.net www.AdAstraRadio.com ©2013 Buhler Football Roundtable 2014 Silver Sponsor www.fnbhutch.com www.southwindeyecare.com www.hometownfoodstores.com www.prairiebankks.com www.summitks.com Dr. Erik L.
