LIBRARY FUNDRAISING DVD SHOWS: On Wednesday, 26 November at 6:00 pm at
Kilberry Terrace, we will show “Mary and Martha”, the story of an American and an
Englishwoman who have little in common apart from a tragedy that unexpectedly
brings them together – the loss of their sons to malaria. They embark on an epic
journey of self-discovery taking them from a remote part of Mozambique all the way
to Washington. Enlisting the help of Mary's formerly estranged father, the two
women inspire both governments and ordinary people to get involved and share
responsibility to the world's children.
MOVIE MEMORIES – THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT – 24 November in Kilberry Terrace
Billed as “Probably the Best Musical Entertainment That Ever Will Be Made” –
The movies, the magic, the memories, the greatest moments and the brightest
stars. The incomparable Golden Era of MGM musicals shines forever in a
timeless production that in 1974 wowed critics and public alike, became a
surprise box-office smash, and remains the best compilation movie ever made.
2
The studio was home to “more stars than there are in the heavens” and some
125 of them in scenes from nearly 100 films enliven this joy fest. Judy, Ol’ Blue
eyes (and James Stewart!) sing. Astaire, Kelly (and Gable!) dance. From Anchors
Aweigh to Ziegfeld Follies, from splashy razzmatazz to splashing in puddles,
filmmaker Jack Haley’s affectionate celebration more than lives up to its name. If
you had to choose one movie musical to take with you on a long stay on a
deserted isle, you couldn’t go wrong with this one: THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT! All
Villagers are welcome to MOVIE MEMORIES film shows every Monday morning
at 9:30 am. Come and join us there.
