Elementary Christmas Musical Information
Once again it’s time for our annual Christmas programs. The second, third,
fourth, fifth, and sixth grade program will be held Sunday afternoon, December 14
at 2:00 PM in the gymnatorium. The pre-k, kindergarten and first grade program
is scheduled for Friday evening, December 19 at 6:30 PM in the gymnatorium. The
children have been practicing since the end of October for these events. Their
attendance is essential for a successful production.
For the Sunday 2nd-6th grade program students should report to their
classrooms by 1:30. The procession into the gym will start at 1:50 so the show can
start at 2:00 and conclude before 3:00. Boys should wear a solid color dress shirt
with a tie. Suit coats, sweaters, and vests can get very warm under the lights and
are not suggested for that reason. Girls should wear appropriate Christmas attire.
Dresses / skirts should be at least knee length. Tops / dresses should not be too
revealing. Spaghetti straps must be covered. Black dress pants with a red or green
top would also be acceptable. It is suggested that girls do not wear heels because
of the safety factor of walking up and down the stage bleachers. Their school shoes
would be fine. Sixth graders are the exception to the above criteria. They will
wear their costumes for the entire show and should report to their classroom no
later than 1:10. Most of their costumes will be provided. It is imperative that all
students attend this program as attendance could influence their grade.
Participation at an athletic event is not an approved excuse. The date was
announced when we started practice and students were told to inform their
coaches about this commitment.
For the Friday evening pre-k – first grade program students should report to
their homerooms by 6:00 PM. We will be processing in at 6:25. The elementary
students will be presenting “The Living Creche”. This will be an interactive event
so be prepared to sing some traditional carols. First graders will have the main
parts and most will be wearing provided costumes. Students who are portraying
family members of today should wear appropriate Christmas attire. Kindergarten
students will be portraying “The Friendly Beasts”. Animal headpieces will be
provided with students wearing their gym uniforms and sneakers (no light–up
ones). Pre-K students should wear appropriate Christmas attire. Please refer to
the second paragraph above for appropriate Christmas attire. The entire program
will be approximately 35 minutes.
It has been my pleasure working with your children on these productions.
May the true meaning of Christmas be seen and heard through them.
Thank you!
Mrs. Bonny Klinger

Drop Off Procedure
For the 2014/15 school year, new Fire Lane – No Parking signs have
been posted in front of the school. After consulting with fire and police
personnel, it was decided to follow this course of action for safety
concerns. Parents may stop their vehicles and drop children off, but they
are not to exit the vehicle to bring them into school. Pre-kindergarten
and Kindergarten students will enter through the gymnasium where they
will be escorted to their classrooms by their teachers or aides. Please,
follow these directions.
Community Aid Clothing Bin
We are pleased to inform you that we now have a Community Aid
Clothing Collection Bin here at Lourdes. It is located to the far right as
you enter the parking lot. Community Aid is a faith-based non-profit
registered charity with the primary purpose of raising funds for
distribution to non-profit charitable organizations. We will be paid by
the pound for everything we collect here at Lourdes. You may bring the
following items: clothing, shoes, blankets, bedding, linens, accessories
(belts, scarves, hats),and draperies. They do not want any household
"hard" items such as lamps or coffee makers. Just soft items, shoes, and
accessories. They sell the donated clothing in their thrift stores located
on the strip in Selinsgrove (the old Value City building) and
Mechanicsburg. All items will be sold at the most affordable price to
allow our neighbors a place where they can shop for their families. We
will also be receiving some clothing vouchers after the first quarter to
issue to those who need a "helping hand." If you are in need, please let
us know. The bins will be serviced regularly as we do not want them to
get overloaded. Start cleaning out your closets and dropping off your
unwanted goods as soon as possible. Thank you for your support of
Lourdes Regional School!
Sincerely,
Jacqueline O. Kerris
