NTW ACTIVITIES IN HAMAR
MONDAY 27th APRIL 2015
Rib Safari Mjøsa
There is only one true way of experiencing the lake Mjøsa, and that is by boat. RIB Safari Mjøsa will
show you the magnificent lakeside from our RIB boats, and tell you the stories from the past, present
and maybe – the future. With speed up to 50 knots we are able to show you a great part of the lake,
the most beautiful parts of the lake, the magnificent countryside, the big farms and places that surround our beautiful lake. Mjøsa is the biggest lake in Norway, and some of the biggest farms in Norway are found around it. Within one hour we will show you different places and farms, and by storytelling, we will let you learn the importance of this part of our inland area.

City walk and Kirsten Flagstad Museum
Hamar is a modern town, established in 1849. During the last years it has been through a tremendous
face-lift. Both buildings and surroundings have been developed and customized for the future. We’ll
start the walk at the new town hall, then we will visit the art museum Kunstbanken, before we pass
the beautiful, old railway station. Next we walk through the old town hall, which was the place where
the Norwegian Government had its last meeting during World War II.
We then visit the oldest building in Hamar, Røhnegården, before we end up at the new culture house
in the town centre. From there we continue to the Kirsten Flagstad museum for both a historical and
a musical experience. www.visit-hedmark.no/en/hamar-region
Kirsten Flagstad (1895-1962) was called “the
voice of the century” and “the world’s greatest
Wagnerian soprano”. She was born in Hamar
and had an exceptional stage career in the US
as well as in Norway. She later became the first
Director of the Norwegian Opera. The Museum
encompasses family mementoes, a photo collection, original costumes from The Metropolitan
Opera House in New York and a music room. The
museum is located in “Strandstuen”, the oldest
building in Hamar. www.kirsten-flagstad.no
