PROGRAM, SUNDAY, 7 JUNE 2015, 11am – 4 pm
NORWEGIAN CANNING MUSEUM:
Activity day with smoking of salmon fillets. Come taste newly-smoked
salmon straight from the oven. Use the opportunity to get our new
refrigerator magnets! They’re ceramic and shaped like sardines! “Canning
Cinema”: Old films about the bygone canning industry are shows
throughout the day (on the museum’s upper level). Activity trails for
children. The ‘iddis’ (canning-label) club Norway Brand is on hand,
interested in swapping labels with you. In the foyer you can see the film
“Canning Capital Stavanger”.
11am, 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm: guided tours of the old factory.
Free admission to the worker’s cottage at Øvre Strandgate 90. The café sells
the best waffles in Old Stavanger, plus coffee, tea, fizzy drinks and ice
cream. Remember to bring cash.
STAVANGER MARITIME MUSEUM: Buy candy and other goodies from
Madamme Cranner in the general store at Stavanger Maritime Museum.
OLD STAVANGER AND STRANDKAIEN
All the artist studios, galleries, cafés and craft workshops are open. At Kafé
80A, you can buy good food and beverages. Greet Einar Sanstøl from
Valbergtårnet (fire-lookout tower), who watches over the streets!
1pm: Walking tour with local historian Egil Henriksen. Meet up at
Lendelunden.
1:30pm: Concert by Los Inmigrantes in front of Øvre Strandgate 51.
In case of rain, the concert will be in the Norwegian Canning Museum’s
foyer.
