The administrative and cultural center
of Seinäjoki is one the most substantial
works of architect Alvar Aalto. The
center, which has an influential
and timeless design language, was
mainly completed between the years
1960-1968 and is comprised out of six
buildings. The first to be built was the
church, Lakeuden Risti (Cross of the
Plains church). The last to be built was
the theater building in 1987. Seinäjoki
is where you have the chance to go
and admire this wonderful architectural
whole and rare group of buildings –
rare both on Finnish and global scale.
