Armed forces are among the biggest public consumers of fuel and other resources in
modern societies. This September, Denmark released a new green defence strategy
and other nations have also adopted comparable policies and strategies to address
challenges such as resource scarcity, budgetary constraints, and logistics and fuel
consumption in operations. To discuss and identify sustainable policies and practices
as a new important aspect of defence policy, CMS hosts an international conference on
green defence. The conference will provide a unique platform for knowledge-sharing,
networking and collaboration between national and international stakeholders.
Speakers include:
 Ben Van Hecke, Office of the NATO Chief Scientist
 Susanne Michaelis, NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme
 Frank Trojahn, Royal Danish Navy
 Niels Henrik Hedegaard, Planning Division, Danish Ministry of Defence
 Klaus Bolving, CENSEC
 Lars Aagaard, Danish Energy Association
 Leo S. Mackay, Jr., Lockheed Martin
 Kristian Knus Larsen, Centre for Military Studies
